i think i’m finally gonna listen to this shit frens. but before i do i’m curious, what are your thoughts on it? i’m basically going in blind.

it's good but it's just music, you know?
also listen to F# A# ∞ first if you haven't

This, GSYBE should be listened to chronologically

You’re going to feel some shit user.

Wheres the music?

If you're like 15-17 you'll probably love it but otherwise you'll think it's some pretentious bullshit

Heard somebody describe this album as the soundtrack to person's life, from schooling to homelessness to rehab and finally death & passage to heaven. Changed my whole perception of the album. Really fun to make up a narrative as you go, refining it w/ each listen
I pity you for losing that sense of childlike wonder and innocence

noted, i was deciding between those two actually. the only GYBE song i’ve heard at this point is Dead Flag Blues which i actually really enjoyed
that’s the goal
18 so i could probably go either way. the only weird drone-y album i’ve listened to so far was To Be Kind which was okay but definitely not worth giving up 2 1/2 hours for.

I liked it a lot during my a levels when I needed background music for studying. Now I think I am kinda burnt out on their style of post-rock.

Nah hearing an album with like 6 crescendos gets old after like the 2nd/3rd listen and the political messages are really gay and ham handed

Yanqui U.X.O is better

Not my thing. I liked the sermon vocal sample, but the music is pretty boring.

I have never really understood why people label this album crescendocore, it's the last thing I'm paying attention to whenever I listen. The dynamics make it interesting, and it's not like every single song builds to one uninteresting crescendo (e.g. any album by This Will Destroy You)

Storm

Because it is, I can think of at least four on the album with 10-15 minute sections building up to it. Or what they'll do is play a really cool sequence and repeat it until it's shitty

I remember Sleep blew my mind when I first listened to it. Now It's kind of a chore to listen to.

what else is there to do besides get louder/softer or stay at a certain volume? there is literally no other option in dynamics

dead flag blues is the only song you need

its neat but i prefer F# A# ∞

>NOOOOOOOOOOOO HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO LISTEN TO THIS ALBUM IT HAS IDEAS I DON'T TOTALLY AGREE WITH

Listen to F# and Slow Riot first

I made the mistake of listening to this before listening to F#A#. Gud album tho.
