I am not one to make an argument around "it's not music," for it definitely is music, I just wonder how much it is his style than it is the actual music that makes people want to keep listening to him. His lyrics are garbage, his beats are even worse, the production sounds like it was done by a coked-up sixteen year who just downloaded Garage Band for the first time, and all he does is sing about drugs. Like, when Zeppelin, Beatles, Dylan, Oasis, or any other rock band; fuck even any rap artist; sang about drugs at least the production was good quality and you can actually understand them? I don't want to date myself, because I am a 31-year-old millennial who still digs a lot of new stuff being released, but Lil Xan, and mumble rap for that matter, just doesn't do it for me for a variety of reasons.

I was reading up on 50s music and there were a lot of one hit wonders and kids who recorded a single or two before disappearing, so it's hardly even unprecedented in music history. the difference is in 1959 they actually made listenable music and didn't look like complete retards.
