>What can you do?
Y'know, play guitar
Damn
>Y'know, play guitar
Be more specific. Can you compose? Just solo? Or only play shit you hear?
Piano, 20 something years. I just feel it out
>can you compose
Yeah a bit
>Just solo?
Mostly. I also go with duets and string ensembles.
>Or only play shit you hear?
Do you mean learning stuff by ear? Yeah I can do that and also read moozic.
Got tips?
is that a good damn or a bad damn? it was a notable song because it was one i put a lot of hours into to get right, mostly because i wanted to / enjoy the song
i also still only do 1 octave for my scales, and im studying more music theory stuff; familiarized myself with the circle of fifths last night and some other things
Improv a lot. Slow down and take the time to find where you want to go in a composition. Don’t place expectations on yourself. Do it long enough and you’ll develop intuition, which for me is greater than intellectual understanding of the instrument
Playing guitar for just under 4 years. I'm okay, can play some tricky stuff. Make some 'music' occasionall. If you're interested:

Thanks. Besides scales, chords, playing in 3rds and 4ths. What else? I can't learn a song for shit, even if youtube the synthesia video of it.
Like, don’t be put off when your improv sounds bad. Sounding bad is part of the process you go through to find ways of sounding good. Just keep feeling around and experimenting. It really is an infinite well of possibility. It can be easy to feel stuck down a rabbit hole, it takes some presence of mind to back it up and refresh yourself. I don’t know that’s the best I can explain it, hope that helps
For learning songs you just have to practice it an assload of times and get the muscle memory. This has always been hard for me and it’s not typically how I play anymore. The way I always did it was by looking at midi files and matching the notes one at a time. It’s just so much harder to learn something than to create it. I could never play the kinda of things I do if I was trying to learn them from somebody else, it’s easy because the process of composition cements the piece in your brain
You're doing good user keep it going
I've been playing piano for almost 30 years and guitar for 13.
Piano since I was like 5, I teach it but only at a very beginner level, I never took any of the bi classical exams but I do want to.
I've been playing guitar for just over 2 years now and I'm more proficient at it then piano I sometimes feel. Although I'm much better at composing on the fly on the piano. My Improve is pretty good, I practice it regularly
Damn, thanks so much.
i play most instruments at a base level
piano is the most satisfying to play solo on though, when the skill barrier between thought and expression becomes small enough its really something else
holy shit you get it. Its the one instrument where I can control it without thinking, it's like speaking with it, it becomes an extension of yourself
>playing piano for almost 30 years
Well fuck yeah, tell us about your process?
np user. best of luck, everyone’s gotta find their own way
piano, harmonica, guitar, bass, drums, and ukelelelele. mind you im not a master at any of these instruments but ive always had more fun learning different instruments than sitting around and fucking around with only one.
