Is it okay to listen to Youtube-core music? Does music being popular on youtube cause you to enjoy it less?

just like what you like

What does "popular on youtube" mean? I have a lot of favorite songs that have hundreds of millions of views but I think that just means they're famous or well-known in general.

Im indiffrent. Im more mad at youtube because they dont realize the power they have, they could become the new mtv, they could pluck bands and musicians out of obscurity and promote them through the algorithm
they have the power to make and break careers, to be tastemakers.

YouTube-core is a relic from 5 years ago, now people discover 'obscure' music through TikTok. Any Forums has been behind the curve for a while now but the amount of ytcore posts I still see truly cements it

i know of tiktoks power over music im just old and dont care

then you do you, it'd be more embarrassing to find music through TikTok at this point than yt, I look for music curated channels that post full albums most of the time, unfortunately they get deleted often by copyright

ytcore generally seems to be asian spins on well established genres, or something that just looks cool
i just find it a bit sad that practically everyone who listens to scenery won't even consider listening to another hard bop album

>just like what you like
this lmaoo if thr yt algo helps you find music you enjoy then good for you

you know how dumb that sounds right
having your likes and dislikes dictated by people that aren't you

what

It's NOT ok to listen to what you want to, ALWAYS ask for permission from Any Forums they know better

based fellow channel roamer. I've found some of my favourite albums through just fucking about on random channels, and it'll be a cold day in hell when I start acknowledging the Topic auto-uploads

City pop is a massive and broad genre. It varies from jazzier stuff, to beach boys sounding stuff, to some more synth pop stuff, to idol music, and everything in between. There are a lot of great city pop artists.

Basically what I'm saying is that you should be musically curious and not just fucking listen to music because it is "aesthetic" or "vibey". Listen to albums and don't find it in a compilation of songs with the thumbnail of a flat shaded palm tree.

In that sense, no it doesn't bug me that the music is popular it just bugs me that there are shallow people out there who are making it really annoying to be a fan of the genre.

>beach boys sounding stuff
any specific recs?

Filmmaker became one of my daily listens because of the YouTube algorithm

What is youtube core, do you have a chart?

Random/obscure music that gets recommended to a lot of people seemingly put of nowhere. See Wlfgrl and chipmunks on 16 speed

Big wave by tatsuo yamashita, it's covers of beach boys songs

I give a fuck about "cores" or any of the nonsense you fucking tapeworms wannabe-human mindless gormless washed-out specks have to say
