It's funny how Colin was not into that sort of pastoral psychedelia at all, he was into Uriah Heep and Black Sabbath and all that stuff, and yet he writes these gorgeous songs like Sacrificial Bonfire and Wonderland.
I am though.
I appreciate it even more after checking out some of Rundgren's music. Similar production ideas, like the ticking clock rhythm is 100% Todd.
No. But it will make you a beta cuck like me.
Not to mention Dying, very moving and underrated track. Though it's not as though Sabbath themselves were without their Planet Caravans and Changeses.
well Yes.
DROWING HERE IN SUMMER'S CALUDROOOOOOO-
Dear God is shit
Right, Planet Caravan and Changes and Orchid and all that - those are beautiful folksy songs from a very unfolksy band - but it feels like Colin somehow went into heavy metal and what he got out of it was this really well done sense of melody and groove in a way that sounds very much like 60's psych pop, whereas Andy is going into psychedelia and these gorgeous pop songs and what he gets out of that is the weird and jerky and janky stuff - it's such an interesting result.
