The Downward Spiral is one of my favorite albums, but I feel like none of the subsequent music comes close to it.
I think The Fragile is far better than Spiral personally. I might also prefer Trilogy over it, Spiral is easily one of NIN's very high peaks so it makes sense to prefer it over anything else.
Their ambient soundtracks are so soothing

NIN is really good at ambience, I am a big fan of the Ghosts: Together album, it has some really beautiful soothing melodies on there. I am glad Trent put out at least two pure ambient NIN albums, hell, I wouldn't mind more in the future sometimes.
such a great logo
Ruiner from The Downward Spiral is a personal favourite of mine.
That song's awesome, it still perplexes me that Trent said he is not too found of that song, on some level I guess I get it, he feels as if it's two songs patched together, it was probably one of the hardest songs to make from that album.
That guitar solo still gets me though, Trent's love for Pink Floyd really shined through in that moment.
Hesitation Marks is his best is has none of the dumb edgy shit, just good music.
Favourite band for years. The way he uses the synth is genius.
Wrote a song that i inspired from them

10/10 overall as a band
Not the Actual Events is fantastic. Most interesting NIN release since Year Zero and my favourite release overall
I agree, The Trilogy in general is one of Trent's best, it has not been this dark and this tense since Year Zero.
Year Zero itself is also greatly underrated, I utterly love that album.
I saw them when they toured for The Slip. It was a good show and they played a bunch of songs from Ghosts and Year Zero as well. A song that always sticks out to me that doesn't get enough notice or live play (didn't play at show I went to) is "Me, I'm Not" from Year Zero.

The Year Zero HBO show would have been cool. They were given the writer of Carnivale (awesome show and got cancelled after 2 out of 6 planned seasons) but it didn't work out because of him:
>A planned film adaption of Year Zero became a television project in 2007.[65] Reznor met with various writers and pitched the idea to television networks.[66] The 2007–08 Writers Guild of America strike affected the pre-production stage. Nevertheless, Reznor commented in 2008 that the project is "still churning along",[67] and that he had begun working with American film producer Lawrence Bender.[5] In 2010, Reznor started developing the Year Zero miniseries with HBO and BBC Worldwide Productions. Reznor and Bender collaborated with Carnivàle writer Daniel Knauf to create the science fiction epic.[68] When asked about the miniseries during an "Ask Me Anything" session on Reddit on November 13, 2012, Reznor said it was "currently in a holding state" and explained, "We [Reznor and Sheridan] didn't find the right match with a writer, and really have been avoiding doing what we should have done from the beginning: write it ourselves. [...] This project means a lot to me and will see the light of day in one form or another."[69] In 2017, during an interview promoting new Nine Inch Nails EP Add Violence, Reznor said that "They got so far as hiring a writer for it, but then it fell to shit because we never had the right writer. I should have just done it [myself]."[70]
They're both great but The Fragile is defintively the album I'm playing more often and that resonates with me more.
Favourite song on the album.
love his ambient stuff. my man will make a 9 minute song that's just a bunch of drones and a single piano and it's always the most beautiful shit i've ever heard.
Been listening to Add Violence a lot recently
The Background World is pretty great
He has been great ambient ever since A Warm Place on TDS and he has only gotten better at it. He is responsible for getting me into Ambient/Dark Ambient for a while, I want to have that phase again.
yeah man i love another version of the truth especially. shit makes me tear up.

I absolutely love that before this you had The Great Destroyer, the crazy aggressive electronics is then followed by this, perfect pacing, makes this song hit that much hardedr.
The remixes back then were awesome, but after Awitha Teetha or YZ it kinda became too bleep bloopy. But that goes for NIN in general.
Been in the top five I've listened to for years. Every album becomes better every time I listen to them, that rarely happens. And Trent has the ambient side nailed, too.
