what?

I like collecting and listening to classic vinyl, especially obscure records that aren’t available on streaming platforms. Something neat about listening to music the way people listened to it when it first came out.

I buyed some vinyl and I ain't even got a record player lmdu (laughign my dick uff)

The Compact Disc format hasn't been invented yet.

something to collect and the big album art looks cooler than a small cd case. also, when a huge solar flare fries all the electronics, vinyl records will be playable.

I went into everyday music downtown this past Saturday - hadn't been there in like a decade or more. There were huge racks of LPs for sale, row after row, classical, rock, hip hop, everything. CDs too of course but it was weird. I thought I'd somehow gone back in time or something.

I buy it because I think a disc that produces music while spinning is fascinating .

>satisfying, hands-on ritual of “putting on” a record
>comforting warmth and crackle of analog
>nice big gatefold artwork to stare at while listening
>format forces you to experience albums/song sequences as intended by the artist, rather than jumbled up in algorithmically generated playlists
>most modern releases/reissues come with a download code so you can still choose to listen digitally
>much better way of supporting your favourite artists than just streaming their music; also supports indie record shops
>depending on what you buy, your collection can hold its value or even appreciate
>the unexpected joys of crate digging- buying an insanely cheap vintage album based on nothing but the cover and finding out you copped an absolute gem; if it sucks, who cares it was only 50p

To look cool on social media, I guess.

And how are you going to play a record without a turntable?

i bought a vinyl from the netherlands hoping it would be signed by the artist (the site said it would be), not only was it not signed but the sleeve also got damaged in shipping
$60 fuckin bucks for this thing

where are you still finding records for 50p, even the bargain bin jumped to £4 min around here even for the 80s cliff richard records that nobody want

Don’t get me wrong, at that price the chances of you finding something that doesn’t suck or isn’t warped to shit are very slim, but that’s the game you’re playing. However I did once manage to score a copy of Joni Mitchell’s Blue for £1 from a thrift shop.

you buy a turntable you fuckin twat

you aren't gonna go buy wheels without owning a car would you? or maybe you would because you seem to be retarded

What are you supposed to do when there is no digital release and you want to own the music?

Record shop near me has a great bargain bin for 50p. I got a grime record worth £45 in it once.

which requires electricity, and in your scenario you laid out, all electronics have been wiped out, including your solar panels and battery

Because they're bourgeois wankstains.

besides, decent music quality is a plus on top of that

yeah, just lean in to hipsterdom to win an argument on an anonymous website. fix your ego bud.
