hard disagree, at least bands like Deftones understood metal had been taken to its logical extremes and there was no point pursuing things further.
Meshuggah took things far enough, shit like Dream Theater was soulless, hell even Metallica understood the self indulgent time changes and song lengths during justice didn't connect with audiences anymore.
