I really want to get better at guitar but the wrist of my fretting hand is damaged and it gets tired after about 90 second of exertion. I do gentle stretches and the like to try and rehabilitate it but it still gets fatigued very quickly.
is there anything i can do except avoiding barred chords to preserve my wrist more?

look up 'how to hold guitar' on youtube. ive played for years and never thought about how i hold the guitar, but if you do it right you position your hand/wrist properly to have way more leverage and make everything easier
also start doing planks on your hands a few times a day. if it hurts your wrists start with your hands as fists so your arm to hand is straight, once they get easier try with palms flat on the floor
