Yep, I'm taking a W

My favorite aspect of Helmet is that their best known (or most renowned) album (Unsung) is actually their worst & it's still pretty damn good.
Betty might be objectively better, but personally I'm more of a Born Annoying (AmRep years comp), Strap It On, Aftertaste guy myself.
Goddamn Helmet rocks!
On that topic:
Anyone here have anything good to say about the "comeback" albums or Battles?
I always thought it was cool when Page Hamilton would do guest appearances on his heroes albums; WIRE in particular.

Strap It On is better.

hehe snare drum go *boing*

So is Betty.
Any Aftertaste bros in the house?

Go post about it in the metal thread faggot

Helmet isn't "metal" pleb.
They came out of the 80's American post-punk scene.
Their first label was Amphetamine Reptile.
Home of Cows, Tar & Melvins who themselves aren't metal in any conventional sense either.
Nice way to out yourself as a complete & utter newfag peasant, poor little retard.
Better luck next time.

I came to Any Forums specifically looking for Helmet and was not disappointed user. Thanks.

In the same vein of post-punk/hardcore that rocks as hard as metal, but isn't?
I love helmet yet have to admit that these guys are quite possibly superior to Helmet.

If you've listened to Born Annoying, then you're probably aware that Page Hamilton was more than likely a massive fan of Big Black.
Well so too was Fudge Tunnel's Alex Newport.
Also related:
>Nailbomb
Newport's collaboration/side-project with Max Cavalera (Sepultura).

>They came out of the 80's American post-punk scene.
who cares? it doesn't sound anything like pos-punk
>Melvins isn't metal
lol

>In the same vein of post-punk/hardcore that rocks as hard as metal, but isn't?
Well in the vein of being groovy and making you wanna bop your head like you're listening to the DMX
It kinda bops user!
Hell yeah, this slaps HARD

Page Hamilton has always cited WIRE as one of Helmet's biggest influences, even going so far as to have played guest guitar on one of their contemporary releases.

WIRE are first wave British post punk.
Are you implying that WIRE is metal?
Colin Newman HATES metal!
Listen to Page Hamilton rip off Big Black (also WIRE inspired) & try to convince me that Helmet's origins aren't post punk.

Are Big Black metal?
Idiot. Kek.
On the same LP (Born Annoying) they cover Killing Jokes "Primitive".
youtu.be/jkIEyhhqSBk
Is Killing Joke metal?
Again, no. Not in any conventional sense.
Melvins (on the other hand) were worshipers/acolytes of early Swans.
Are Swans metal?
Try again.
You're getting your ass handed to you little pleb.
Lurk moar.
Until then, get the fuck off this board & don't ever come back.
Next!

Wrong. Page Hamilton is a jazz student, he basically plays jazz riffs but heavy metal+ his vocals are like Ozzy's and as you know, Ozzy is the king of heavy metal music
