the vast majority of music is produced as a social bonding mechanism with little to no care for the artistic merit itself, most people do not care for the craft of music itself but the shallow bells and whistles attached to it. the modern day music industry is driven by shallow consumers and the 'underground' scenes are driven by phonies masquerading as enthusiasts yet they are nothing more than social parasites behind the veil. the crude mathematical aspects of classical composition have all but died out. therefore, music isn't art.

Music is the path to God. There is a divine composition out there, yet to be composed, that will make even the most hardline atheist drop to his knees and accept God. Music is the most important aspect of the human experience, and we must protect it and push forward at any cost.
Colton Lee
to be able to validate this statement means you must listen to every song that has ever been released and also the thousands of songs that are released every day.
well have you?
Noah James
he's kinda right.
but axe the word "modern".
it's been like this for as long as recorded music existed.
Jose Carter
What do people mean when they talk about "art music"? Generally the feeling I get is of treating music as something that you observe from a distance like a painting. Why should that kind of music be considered as having more artistic merit than music in which the "observers" participate as well (dancing, singing along, etc)?
The other common view I've seen is music which is beyond commercial purpose, which is just straight up wrong.
Both seem to be leftover ideas from aristocratic times.

the thematic tropes across songs of various genres offer little to no variety by themselves, which is self evident by the fact the majority of genres still referred to by music enthusiasts are summed up by a few songs recorded in collections of commercialized albums, and as recognized collections in the case of much older works.
as for your premise, there stands an argumentative flaw where if one must listen to every song in existence to prove this statement, one must do so in order to disprove this statement as well. therefore, it is safe to assume that music isn't art.
Justin Reed
>one must do so in order to disprove this statement as well
Thats not true kek you cannot prove by example but you CAN disprove by counter example
Jackson Sullivan
you may post some music you consider as art then, go ahead sir.

Bruh, not everyone understands classical shit
Not everyone appreciates the same music you do, it's all about how it reachs to us
We all have different perceptions of the world, and that's reflected in the variety of music.
