I don't think it's the best album of all time but it got some very undue and I just criticism because of the overuse of hocketing. I love the interwoven ides of melody and rhythm where each instrument seems to carry this melody or motif through each song. It's all these disjointed angular parts working together to make this beautiful, fun, bouncing groove. It's significantly drier than most of their releases. There is little reverb. I really think the cover itself represents the music extremely well. I get visions of geometric patterns and abstract textures listening to this album and the Dadaist concepts behind a lot of the lyrics are kitschy and abstract, in a good way.
Shame this album is disregarded by so many, it really is so much better than people say.

Ugly, obnoxious album. As a huge fan, I'm glad this doesn't seem to be the nail in the coffin it felt like on release. I remember thinking 'this is it. They're done. Shit melodies, annoying sounds, creatively bankrupt and soulless... it's over'
But now, thankfully and mercifully, we have Time Skiffs and soon Space Riffs.
