What went wrong?

Nothing, it was their big move into "mainstream," produced, rock music. It did exactly what was intended, and blew up accordingly. The production is far more digestible to the not fully-accustomed post-hardcore listener than to a diehard.

There's a reason why Omar says it's his least favorite. There's a level of appreciation for the rawness of a record that comes with delving into something that hard. Personally, I like ROC and I think their songcraft is at their strongest there. But my personal favorite will always be In/Casino/Out because I feel like it strikes the balance between appeal and earnestness perfectly.

In/Casino/Out has a much more introspective vibe too

Ok fanboy
Truth is half the band were junkies and they were all overly passive aggressive to each other. They hired Ross Robinson to produce after he just did huge limp biz kit and korn albums. They knew they were sacrificing artistic integrity for an easy sellout, half the band just wanted to shoot up some more, they didn’t care

>half the band just wanted to shoot up some more, they didn’t care
this would be the perfect dismissive diss if the "half the band that wanted to shoot up" didn't go on to make the most important prog rock albums of the 21st century so far

don't like the absolute nonsense lyrics and how they probably inspired dgd to do it all the time. the emotional punch isn't is strong when ur just writing random shit to fill in the melody.

Pretentious wank albums, baby’s first prog. Not nearly as important as you think, more of a footnote to the rhcp era of the time

>more of a footnote to the rhcp era of the time
PFFFFFFFFFFFFT AHAHAHHAHAHAHA

either a literal babby, cult nut, or absolute tastelet, take your pick

>rhcp era
yea i wonder what was more important, Deloused or fucking Stadium Arcadium, jesus fucking christ

>DGD
DGD have not made anything in their careers that even sniffs anywhere close to ATDI's or TMV's careers. if they "inspired" them to do anything I'd hope it'd be to make an actually good record

Mars Volta is to rhcp what bad company is to the Beatles. In twenty years they will be forgotten. Seethe all you want, Mars Volta is hippy trash and doesn’t hold up

so musically illiterate i wanna attribute it to ronald's house of nuts, please consider defecting and armed revolution on the 5'1 rat looking-ass

>so musically illiterate i wanna attribute it to ronald's house of nuts, please consider defecting and armed revolution on the 5'1 rat looking-ass
You are actually illiterate. Probably cooked too many brain cells listening to Omar make baby noises

>random anger at TMV, no addressing actual statement
GLOW HARDER FUCCBOI CULT NUT OMEGALOL, STAY SCAMMED BY UR WEIRD PEDO LEADER

Keep seething lol you don’t even make sense. You post like Cedric writes lyrics, meaningless and stupid. I must’ve read a thousand faces

sup, Cedric

Lyricsfags truly deserve the rope

Honestly still an all time great. I guess everyone wants to be a contrarian now?

Introspective? You realize their lyrics mean all of jack shit, right? I mean I like a lot of the songs (Devil among the tailors goes hard af) but this comment is even more incoherent than Cedric's lyrics

it's just contrarians braj
>in regard to post hardcore, its SUPPOSED to sound like shit dude

I don't even hate the album, but there's something about the instruments that started to sound really bad, sadly either I'm the only that feels that way or others can't explain it
