I guess XXXtentacion is the closest to that. Got famous around mid-late 2016 and died in June 2018. He didn't really accomplish anything of note imo, but his fans would say otherwise.

Only other person I can think of who went from playing bars and clubs to being literally the most famous musician on the planet in 2.5 years is Elvis. But if Elvis had died in 1958 I don't know if rock would have become as popular as it did.

It's honestly wild when you think about how short stuff was in the 90s. Just to compare, the entire Britpop arc began in 1992 and ended in 1997. That's only 5 years.

It's a lot harder for me to think of "stuff happening" with those partly cause I'm unfamiliar, but also cause the Britpop arc felt like there was just a lot of drama and stuff going on. The Beatles are another good example, 1964 to 1970 is only six years, but it's just very eventful.

Dude was famous for like 2 years max.
And his catalog out streams nirvanas by quite a bit. Granted his music is newer but he has been dead for like 3 years now. And he only lived to be 20 instead of 27. Already has 67 million records sold in the US. Nirvana has sold a little over 75 million. I don't like either act as a person, but I enjoy their music. There both full of shit and terrible people. I don't why we have celebrities as role models. Their lives are a mess. And in the case of both artists the lifestyle they lived lead to their early deaths. Cobain coped till he ran out of copium and 46%ed himself. X died how he lived, violently.
