yes, they had a good relationship and salieri was innovative in his own right. the story is just completely fabricated, it doesn't have anything to do with mozart other than wrote facts like when and how he died and the time period the settings etc. The personalities and relationships portrayed are just made up and have no connection to the life of Mozart and Salieri whatsoever
