Every resource is pointing to this one chip but anons and one video example explain that the bios chip is only 6-8 pins.

I'd unironically pay to have someone wiser than me call me a fucking retard and point out the right chip. I wish there were better scans or more documentation on the R60s motherboard revisions. It says some boards have to use the area near the broadcomm, others claim the chip in pic related. None of these are actually the bios chip that gets connected to in videos that I see as those all have fewer connectors. Should I just use the keyboard and Top shell for a franken pad and call it a day? I don't like admitting defeat. I'll have to learn how to identify eeprom chips at some point once I have enough for better, more expensive Thinkpads that don't allow for software flashing the bios.

GOOD LORD!

When (if) I find the eeprom I'm going to lurk this fucking general for months helping anons break bios passwords / install libreboot. This is fucking bullshit.

T470p is better than the T480

Bogpill me on this
t. About to buy a 480

they're functionally the same

Are old thinkpads still the best budget laptops?

Yes but if you buy them don't be a fucking idiot like me and think "yeah I can just scrap it for parts if I can't unlock the bios" Make sure the photo has AT LEAST a bios screen if it doesn't include its HDD/SDD.
Ram / Memory / CPU upgrades are cheap for older models. But I generally buy older than what Any Forums is willing to tolerate because I'm not trying to open up 40 firefox tabs and run steam at the same time.

Just bought an X201. Is this based old man right?

I have a thinkpad x200, recently, after turning it on after a few days, it suddenly froze and I had to turn it off, when turning it on it does not make any noise and the screen stays black, the status lights indicate that it is on and it is reading the disk, but it does not detect caps lock. What could it be? I already disassembled it, readjusted the hard disk and the ram, and it is still the same.

Best Thinkpad for coding/music production? Complete noob when it comes to laptops and
I heard Thinkpads are best for customizing/autism. Ideally I'd like a model with a quad core and easily replaceable drives and RAM.

>Just bought an X201
have fun with the excess heat

I'm honest to God willing to pay for someone to help me find my fucking 24RF08 eeprom chip with certainty / proof. Do I have to take off the magnesium cage? Someone has to have done this before. Why is it so hard to find good clear examples of a bios chip on a motherboard?

>Shame
Welp despite all the abuse the R60 turns on. I'll focus on reassembling it and using an external tool to dump the BIOS. Shame. Shaaaaaame.

Attached: mfw I give up.jpg (602x338, 29.74K)

you can dump the BIOS using software on R60, just use the patched flashrom binaries from 2016 release of libreboot. the ones that have 'macronix' and 'sst' in the name

>those colors
how?!

Whats a better buy? T480 8350u 1080p IPS for 300 euro, or P14s gen 1 AMD 4750u for 750 euro?

Will be primarily used for computer science studying/web browsing. I use linux.
I like the powerbridge, had it on my X260 and the battery life was insane but i think the ryzen is a bit more future proofed
