This is a sad state of affairs. I still have folderloads of screencap'd Any Forums threads that filled me with intense joy. I've just spent a couple of days hanging around here, and it's true that nothing of the sort is to be seen around here anymore.
Could the rise of smartphones be to blame for this? And the culture of single-sentence replies and condensed expression that stemmed from their stupid shitty tactile keyboards?
Is it a generational thing, like a failure of public education? Are people in their twenties actually still able to tell short stories in writing? Where I live, it's highly doubtful, illiteracy rates in junior high are getting scary.
