So what the hell does Putin want with Ukraine, anyway? What's the deal with NATO expanding eastwards? Isn't there already a trade arrangement regarding the oil pipeline? What do the people of Ukraine want?

He wants the USER back together.
NATO don't.
Do you really think he gives any fucks about trade agreements?.
Some Ukrainians hate him, some love him.

They want more Russian diversity. They're going to allow their women to enjoy those large meaty superior Russian cocks.

Let's just split Ukraine in two

>Some Ukrainians hate him, some love him.
The Ukrainians that love him are Russian

Putin wants NATO to move back to its 1997 defensive line. NATO had agreed not to move further east, but has since reneged on that agreement. In consequence Russia has built up its forces on its border with Ukraine. From a Russian point of view it's a sensible move, Ukraine is non-NATO and theoretically non-aligned county positioned between NATO and Russia, so there is less risk of direct confrontation.

You know he could just say that instead of putting his forces there. Diplomacy and shit.

Meanwhile Georgia shrinks by feet at a time and no one cares.

He's been saying it since the eastward expansion began and NATO has ignored him, so now it has come to this situation and finally NATO is paying attention

Ucrania for rusia = texas for usa

how?

This is the correct answer

Ukraine also had Russia's only year round never iced naval port (Crimea). Tons of Russian gas flows through Ukraine. Back before Russia started all the drama with Ukraine, Ukraine elected a pro western government that was threatening to stop Russia's gas from flowing to Europe, or steal the gas, and also to stop allowing Russia to use the Crimean port.

Parts of eastern Ukraine were part of the Russian empire for a long time prior to the Soviet union formed

Not much actually true there.

hm countries are imaginary and a delusion of humans, so anyone who tries to fight for one's country is ultimately an delluded moron

>teenage logic
intellectually lurk moar

It's called tribalism and it's in your genes dumbass

There are tribes and cultures that form naturally and those are no delusion. But what happens when a tribe starts to splinter? How do we re-draw the maps? Historically, they would just kill each other and whoever won got it. But with nukes these days...

All Ukrainians are Russian. Name for Russia used to be Kievan Rus.

The west of Ukraine was conquered by Poland for a bit and that's the only way they are different.

If that is true, then why don't they just hold an election? Ukraine chooses to be annexed by Russia, there's nothing NATO can really do about it? But I've also heard there's a split in the nation that some people want to be their own country. Hence

Ukraine is traditionally the bread-basket of Europe, which is why anyone warring in that part of Europe wants it.
I'd think that the Ukrainians want to keep their independence and Putin wants to restore the USSR.

Ukraine doesn't need an election. On 1 December 1991 a referendum was held, more than 90% of the electorate expressed their support for the Act of Independence, and thus Ukraine as an independent sovereign state came into being.

Diplomacy is pissing into the wind. There is an EU empire to build and nothing will stop the politicians

>bread-basket of Europe
Ukraine produce 25 million tonnes of wheat. EU produces 127 million tonnes of wheat.

I think your claim is colossaly over stated
