since young I figured anti virus were a meme but still had virus once in a while because being retarded and downloading game.exe
but since like 12 I have never had a virus, and never use an AV so every time I see someone on Any Forums asking for an antivirus I laugh, thinking about how superior I am.

lol so true user

i dont remember ever getting a virus on my PCs, but i did install some unwanted program onto my android once. uninstalling it made it stop appearing in the task manager, so i guess i cleared it out

Normie to tech savvy translation dictionary:
"My computer has a virus" => "I bought a Celeron or my computer is 10 years old and runs slow"
"I've been hacked" => "My computer has a virus"
"I think there's something wrong with the fan in my computer" => "My computer has a virus, probably a miner"
"My Microsoft is messed up" => "I clicked a button I'm not familiar with in Office, how do I undo this?"

ESL here
>be me a kid
>dad bought a copy of Panda Antivirus 2007
>everything works, no problems so far
>some day playing at the computer
>suddenly Panda's system tray icon gone
>didn't give a fuck
>after some hours, dad turns on pc, notices the missing Panda icon
>screams at me, asking me why the antivirus was uninstalled
>tried to explain him i did nothing but playing games
>dad was so nervous that he didn't believe me and got grounded
>some days later, dad comes to my room and he was sorry
>he explains that the antivirus uninstalls itself when the activation key expires
>poker face

My work laptop had a thing that wouldn't let task manager launch and disabled Windows updates. It was disguised as an office installer or something.
Took me like two months to get rid of because I thought this was just workplace autism about not letting employers mess with the computers or preventing Windows updates from bricking the system.
Worst part is not a single result on Google said this likely was a virus. I Google why can't task manager remain open and got a billion results on it being disabled by the administrator and so on.

I was working a full time unpaid job at home supporting my idiot parents and how they would go to the same sites and get the same viruses over and over again, Dad in particular didn't want to admit he went to this one cringy porn site that I remember by name. Put them both on Ubuntu, reduced the work by 95%. Then I moved out and cut them off cold, not a word spoken between us for almost a decade. At some point their laptops died, or more likely, the laptops battery died and because they never listen to a single word I said, don't realize they can just buy another battery, probably bought new laptops with windows, and went right back to doing the same shit. Cut them off when I moved out and couldn't be happier.

I don't remember what made me go
>yeah this gotta be a virus
and install Kaspersky
I'm worried there's something else left though, because cpu is always at 70% and fan spins like crazy for no reason

I remember getting the Merry Christmas hypercard virus and accidentally spreading it around my school, back in the ancient 68k mac days

reinstall the OS if you're allowed to, or ask the IT department to do it for you

holy BASED

Mind virus of the media counts too.

I remember when I downloaded dark comet from some rando on raidsforums and got backdoored. I chated with him through notepad a little before unplugging the internet then reinstalling. Was kinda scared at the time now I kek when I look back at it.

I had a dream once that I got a virus that wiped out all my files and I wiped the computer and did a fresh install and went to restore my backup and the virus was still there hiding in the CPU registers and wiped my backup drive too, and I was panicking because everything was gone.
