What's stopping you from rejecting 16:9, 21:9, 32:9 and going back to 4:3?

I've already taken the 5:4 pill

I want to see more shit on my screen, not less

i already had 5:4

I'm not white

You're still looking only at 1/9th of screen at a time

eyes move faster than mouse

a 16:9 screen is just 2 8:9 screens side-by-side, I accept the compromise

It's shit
That's what's stopping me

16:10 is better

They don't make them at affordable prices and they aren't available at common places. I'd prefer a 3:2 or a √2:1 screen, however.

can't find any that are 100hz or higher

i only use 1:1 monitors. other aspect ratios are imperfect and overrated.

there are hardly any monitors being made with 4:3 AR, i'd go back if they were readily available

I don't know. I have a few 16x12 Dells around here somewhere, but haven't used them in quite awhile (preferring my LG CX).

The human eye can't see above 5:4

Nothing

my laptop is 16:9 and I have no reason to replace it with something different

For me, it's 16:10 on an 8 inch tablet.

I like 16:10.

for the same amount of physical screen real estate, it would be significantly more vertical. our feild of vision is horizontal, 16:9 is the perfect ratio (or as close as weve gotten so far) for this.

gaming, watching movies/shows, are better on 16:9.
coding, too is better as you can have longer lines without scrolling, or two windows (or more) of shorter lines. 4:3 gives you barely half of a 16:9 screen's space for viewing code on, let alone trying to do two windows side by side. and if youre gonna get a second monitor, why not just use a single 16:9?

I don't really see the advantage. 16x9 is just the standard, so I go with it

Honestly this. I just go with whatever other shit supports. There are some use cases for other aspect ratios, but generally 16:9 is compatible with everything and will give you the most pixels and monitor options for the least cost.
