Agreed. It's okay once in a while, but they should be saved for PPV. Short matches on TV are based

They're great matches but like said having these long matches every week with wrestlers who aren't over has absolutely killed weekly wrestling

Based. TV is for getting wrestlers over with character work. PPVs are where you let them actually wrestle to blow it off.

only thing vince russo was ever right about

The average TV match doesn't need to be longer than 5 minutes. Especially in a FLIPZ N' MEWVZ fed like AEW where everyone can get their shit in in an action-packed 5 minutes instead of drawing it out to the point where nothing they're doing means anything since so few of them actually do long-term selling.

They wouldn't fucking be 20 goddamn minutes if Worst Wrestling Ever didn't instruct their actors to feign exhaustion literally 1 minute into the match and after getting hit once. All this faggy moaning and groaning as if they're gassed less than 5 minutes into the match kills the pacing and drags it all on longer than it ever would be if they just saved the fake exhaustion to reasonable time into the match.

5 minutes is a squash match where nobody comes out of it looking good. Go watch an episode of AEW Dark, your retarded mind may think you want this but you really don't.

Thank fuck this board has no real say.

5 minutes isn't a squash, you retarded faggot. You tranny zoomers can't tell time for shit.

it is enough to advance the story which is the most important thing. Your problem is you are watching dark which is incoherent trash but that is the norm for wrestling these days tbd

You know, wouldn't mind the change of pace to see a 5min match that wasn't a crush or some deep thought story in ring with a run-in or something.

Heck it would be a different type of angle starter. Just like two friendly guys competing for some silly bet and one sneaks in a quick victory by a clever hold transition. Up the ante on a backstage segment and in the rematch...till it evolves into an actual feud all the way to a cage match.

That's not what squash means

This is true. Ironman and similar matches should be banned from television. NOBODY wants to see that shit except for the most obese neckbeard smarks.

Any match that runs through a commercial makes me check out much less these boring ass half hour matches. Not even good matches like womeme and shit. just terrible tv

Ah, a mark trying to be smart and utterly failing. As usual. If a long match draws better than other things you had the opportunity to book, then booking the match was the right decision.

But TV is where the real money is made.

>a 5min match that wasn't a crush
impossible
okay so this is what you want then

yummy sub-5 minute storytelling match

>But TV is where the real money is made.
so why the fuck would you put some gay hugging on there

Unless you're the owner or making money on the promotion, there is no reason to police the length of a match and you should be enjoying free long matches.

the only way to craft believable and quality 5 minute matches is by making submissions a regular and expected thing.

Yeah, I watched a shoot interview once too
