Did more people start claiming he was their “favorite” after he died? It seems like the murders did a lot for his popularity and legacy, with wrestling fans pretending he was more important to them than he really was.

He was always a favorite. Eddie and Benoit were both major deals for wrestling fans. They were definitely a lot of people's favorite and always a bright spot on the card.
