"There is simply no other exercise, and
certainly no machine, that produces the level
of central nervous system activity, improved
balance and coordination, skeletal loading and
bone density enhancement, muscular
stimulation and growth, connective tissue
stress and strength, psychological demand and
toughness, and overall systemic conditioning
than the correctly performed full squat."
from Starting Strength by
Mark Rippetoe, Lon Kilgore.
How often do you do them?
twice a week
this
one day focussed on strength and the other on volume
Twice. Front and low back squats. It's a love-hate-relationship.
Twice a week working on my ROM atm. Do high Bar on Tuesdays and zerchers on Saturdays
>full squat
>ass isn't touching heels
???
is it bad when your butt curves down at the bottom motion for a squat? does this make sense? is it butt wink?
Some butt wink is ok, if youre fully deflecting from a tight back tho thats bad
buttwink can be devastating under heavy load. a little bit can be okay but if you're buttwinking a lot try widening your stance and bracing harder. if that doesnt help try working on ankle dorsiflexion
Switch to low bar
I can’t get beyond the parallel without curving my back. It’s over
case and point
I don't know if it matters but this book is for weightlifters and strength, not for bodybuilding
his but is all the way down there the lighting just makes it hard to see :)
I hate squats
Dont @ me faggots
Waste of time for a lot of people especially the skinny fats. It taxes your cns too much. You could use that energy to do exercoses that will really improve your physique like pullups, curls, dips etc.
Book says that is not for muscle gain, but for the improve power of the core body.
I squat 3 times a week
