The same way I overcame porn addiction: allow yourself to go crazy with a substitute.

Instead of eating a shitton of garbage like pizza and wings, let yourself eat as much oatmeal, spinach, baked chicken breast, bananas, salmon, quinoa, etc as you want. You will be much fuller and over time, will naturally consume less. When you first start, let yourself eat a lot of it so that you don't have the temptation to buy some greasy nasty ass pizza that you will regret later.

The other tip that works for me is to think of two versions of yourself in a year. Who do you think would look and feel better, the version that ate shitty processed food constantly, or the version that took care of himself and ate healthy food?

What I did was going purposefully a bit schizo, imagining gaining a higher state of consciousness through restrictive eating like some form of Buddhist monk. I blasted Tibetan monk chanting on full volume every time I would eat something, and imagining myself getting step by step closer to enlightenment

You don't, humans have instinct to eat as strong as breathing. Instead change what you eat and when. You eat fatty calorie dense shit in large quantities since you go the day on little if any food and eat at evening.

I'm 5'8 was 270 down to 230. The hardest part wasn't food it was going to sleep on an empty stomach.
One thing that helped was if I ate terrible it would make me feel sick when I went running.
The biggest thing is i started to learn to surf and trying to do that fat is impossible. Falling into deep water out of breath is scary af.
