Wrist curls do literally nothing.
If you want forearm strength do a simple routine of farmers walks, dead hangs, and plate curls.

only time I've done them is after breaking both wrists
letting the weight hang down strengthened and stretched the tendons
it's not a quality hypertrophy or strength exercise though

I have nothing against the smith machine in general, but fucking hell it draws never gonna make it types like flies.
It's almost always some boomer or zoomer who uses it because it's lighter so he can finally half squat 80kg.
These people never improve either. They're always stuck with the same weights.
Aside from that, single arm cable bicep curls.
Not a lot of options for forearm hypertrophy.

Different muscles retard. For maxed out fore arms there is so many functions to train, it's a pretty complex area. Someone will probably post the info graph

Eh, can help if you're stalling on certain lifts where you need forearm muscles for stabilization. I did that when I hit a plateau on bench and bicep curls, worked for me.
I fucking hate fags that barbell/dumbell press but only go half way.
