I just finished my 130 hour playthrough of Oblivion last weekend. In all the time I've owned that fucking game, since release day, I never finished the main quest, no even once.

This time I played modded out the ass, 280 mods or whatever. Quest mods with their own worldspaces like elseweyr and valenwood, Raathunas (was really good) and all the good shit.

I finished the main quest for the first time in my life, I did all the guilds, I entered every single fucking cave and dungeon and I did every daedric quest and sidequest I could find. I am never, ever touching that game again.

I'm now in the process of modding skyrim, I think I've got roughly 350 tabs in my browser with nexus mods. I thought about doing it, remembered this awful process and how terrible the game's combat is and decided against it, but I looked up skyrim mods 2021 on youtube and now I'm stuck. as far as content there's plenty of quest mods out there but again whether its "good" is going to be up to you and you have to be willing to put up with some jank, bugs, and hit and miss voice voice acting. start with something like forgotten city, wyrmstooth, or maybe beyond reach. see if you like it then try big shit like legacy of the dragonborn that changes everything. remember: you may have put up with stuff like restarting on clean saves.

Fallout sounds at least match the animations, pretty sure oblivion sounds match impacts as well from what I can remember. I think it's due to an odd bug that happens when you hit the AI cap for a zone.
If you don't know, Skyrim can only have like 20 active AIs running within a cell at once, and because some cells outside are rather massive you will hit this cap pretty often (if you ever found an animal just sitting there until you hit it, that's why). Although how it usually works is, the player kind of has a radius around them, and the AI's get activated by the time the player is close enough to see them, but as with all things in Skyrim, this doesn't always work perfectly.
Now, normally when the AI for a person/creature isn't active they will just stand still, but for some fucking reason they will move around at times, just not in any kind of animated way (just floating around).
And if they are doing this, there's a chance that, for reasons only Todd can know, this will cause the animal/person/whatever to float upwards, and not stop until the player is close enough to activate the AI, which in that case means gravity suddenly kicks in and it usually dies to fall damage.
Btw, if you ever had NPCs randomly die in towns (not just from Dragon/Vampire attacks), this could be a reason why.

Skyrim is a game that makes you think. Despite its medieval backdrop, combatants are still 50/50 gender wise. People playing the game for the first time will probably kill a boatload of female soldiers and bandits within the first few hours of playing. And as a new player, you probably instinctively loot every item from each enemy you defeat to build up your early gold pile. Eventually you will look down at a female bandit you killed and looted, and think to yourself how that body is probably still warm. You have already taken most of the clothing off of it, and you are the only one in this cave. Who would know?
