I'm currently hard filtered on the 2nd stage of the EDD while trying to play with randos.
I've made it to the ommoran several times but there is always someone who blows up the bulks right ontop of doretta.

Randos suck if they don't communicate, all people need to do is find nitra that's it but people think they can do it all in one go then lose because oopsie no more ammo.

It's not even the ammo problem because I've memorized every nitra location on the 1st stage, people just get an aneurysm when they see a bulk.

Most of the time it's not that interesting because most interesting overclocks are close to being mutually exclusive. It will be overclock you already using plus clean one for more ammo/damage/etc.

It’s good, but needs more biome specific creatures. The sand sharks, stabber vines, and rideable manta rays are good examples, but the other biomes are lacking. Salt, crystal and radioactive biomes need more shit added to them.

most of the time its based on the kinds of missions if you and if theres mutators on that mission or not. (like Swarmageddon, Mactera Plague, haunted cave).

some enemies only appear on specific biomes too.

Escort duty is fine but it requires the most teamwork of all the missions. But I actually enjoy it a lot.
The only shit mission is industrial sabotage because despite being the same shit every time like Escort duty, the mission takes way longer and the boss just simply isnt fun to fight over and over.

Are you retarded? I consistently do deep dives in 35-40 mins and Elites in just under an hour. Haz 4 or 5 morkite missions take 15-20 mins if you get no bonus events and eggs can be even quicker.
My point is that 30 mins for a single mission is a slog, and should only happen if you get a machine event + an awfully placed cargo crate or its a mission where you lack a character that can help bumrush the objective (scout/engie for aquarqs/eggs, Driller for refining etc).

This happens specially with engi, goddamn he sucks dick without all the mods, and the OC gives you a lot of different playstyles with the PGL.

Play Hazard 2 for a bit, if you have a pulse you'll do fine. After you succeed in 3-5 missions you're ready for haz 3.

Driller is the best class, can literally go anywhere by drilling in multiple directions, easy access to parts of the maps by creating tunnels, the weapons are the best primaries, freeze/sludge/flame all are incredibly useful for the team. Axes also take up a shitload on weakpoints. Can actually reserve ammo and still do great damage and destroy hoards with just a few shots.

Oh yeah, the laser pointer is an amazing way to communicate. In Solo, it's used to command Bosco, but in multiplayer it'll ping whatever you're pointing at and alert your teammates of whatever it is.

It's incredibly satisfying completely melting a narrow tunnel of bugs with Driller or Gunner.

For the sludge pump last tier, what would theoretically be more effective?
Extra corrosive DoT for straight up more damage, or slowdown so bugs stay in the goo longer and take more DoT?

slowdown slows enemies down so they cannot do any damage and it also ends up with them being stuck in the goo and taking more damage
the increased dot is pitiful and then they just walk out of it and the effect gets removed after a short while

As long as you don't go above haz3 for now you'll be fine. Currently carrying some greenbeards through haz3 as we speak.

Greenbeards usually stick to haz3 so it's often not an issue.

If this is your second character, then youre just feeling the effects of going from full perks/overclocks to back to nothing for the first time.
Engineer is really strong, quite possibly the highest kill count class when built and played well.
Though, like with the rest of the classes, stick with lower hazs until you get used to the class and grab some perks and you'll be good.

why is this such a widespread phenomenon, it seems like every multiplayer game now, the majority of the playerbase just look up what someone else did online, and just use that. if they even attempt to use their brain at all, the builds they create are always subpar, which leads them to go right back to using builds made by somebody else, usually a streamer.

Unlock the stubby, I don't play too much engineer but I like the stubby so much more than the shotgun

I overwhelmingly have the most kills in 90% of games I play as engineer and this isn’t just killing little swarms.

The elite deep dive a few months ago where the first level was a dreadnought + point extraction. Ice level, map layout was just a giant vertical tube. Team was basically constantly being swarmed at all times, had near team wipes several times, everyone was on low ammo. Touch and go for like the entire 10 minutes we were there.

This really isn't a modern thing. Memorizing and imitating others is a key point in our development before we find ways to stick out in our own right. Give the guy some time and he'll make changes to the build he copied so it becomes his own.

so I've been trying the various lok1 overclocks I have but other than the Explosive Chemical Rounds they aren't that great.
Eraser feel like a downgrade to the weapon if you want to use full lock bonuses and without it's like not having an OC.
Armor break is ok but getting full lock is painful sometimes.
Seeker rounds lower rate of fire is really bad and the upside didn't seem that good.
Even with explosive doesn't help much with ammo sincei feel like i'm always out

Engineer has this problem where he relies on OCs for basically all of his weapons. Breach Cutter being the exception.

Onsite refining being the absolute worst. you spend the first 3/4ths hitting the build button staring at a pipe, which are very to ride on. Unfortunately you will be only using them to ride during the defense section where you don't actually defend anything and just wack pipes more while grunts pretend to damage it. With swarms coming in every 4 minutes on the dot every time. boring.

On site refinery is the best because everyone no matter what class has something to contribute at every stage of the mission. This is why you take it up the ass.

You should only pick hyper propellant for elimination missions.

Yeah Explosive chemical is just too good.
But you shouldnt feel like youre ammo is running out with it. I would recommend macro lens, because with Explosive you want to target one enemy for 3, then immediately fire, then get another 3 and repeat. It takes a bit of practice but if youre getting tons of 1 or 2 locks to get a single 3 lock, youre wasting tons of ammo. The AoE is really generous.
Keep in mind as well that as long as you get 3 locks, the explosion will happen on the glyphid death even if it takes less than 3 shots. For example if you get a 3 lock on a glyphid swamer, the first shot will kill, explode and kill the rest, and you'll only have used 1 shot.
Its just super efficient, combined with electric shock you can kill a grunt in one 3 shot salvo (electric will finish them) and then the grunts arround them will die in 1 or 2 hits and cause another explosion because you hit a 3 lock on them as well.
With practice, you become absurdly efficient and it feels like cheating because with macro lens you can kill enemies from across the realm.

in pvp games you say gg (good game) after a good match, in monster hunter you say good hunt after a good quest, but what are you supposed to say after a successful mission in deeprock? good mission? good mining? for karl?

I just completed the tutorial mission. I escaped in the pod with the MULE but I didn’t kill all the glyphids I think they’re called. Did I mess up, was I supposed to kill them all?

I was completing DD and EDD in the first week I promoted my first class (Engie) and I have had to all of them solo because some dumb faggot will say "youre too new to do EDD" as if I havent completed them for the past 4 weeks solo and just wanted to do it with people for once.

The game is going to spawn bugs on you every time you call the drop pod at the end of a mission, just worry about getting to the pod and not dying.

Yup, that's the mission terminal, you shouldn't have many options for missions when you're just starting out, but do the ones with the white diamond icon to progress the introductory assignment. Once you have some resources, check out the workbench to the left of the globe (relative to your cabin) to upgrade your gear.

What said. There's a whole bunch of terminals in that area next to the drop pod. The screens and equipment surrounding them should tell you what they're for. If you're playing solo right now, the terminal closest to the drop-pod and behind the assignment board is what lets you upgrade Bosco (the little flying robot they give you)
You're starting out, so don't stress too hard. When you select the mission, there'll be an option to change the Hazard level, basically a difficulty slider from 1 to 5. Since you're new, stick to Hazard 2 and bump up to 3 once you feel comfortable.

I had a similar experience, it was with 3 other unprompted dwarves
the drill was stationary and the weed was attacking it, I was fighting it while a guy was just constantly repairing the drill, another was just mining oil shards, and the third guy doing nothing
I typed in chat for help dealing with the weed and got no response and none of them changed what they were doing
I knew where this was going so I left, they 100% failed that mission

im stuck between incendiary rj250 and max damage compact rounds. incendiary rj250 is fun because you can jump around and kill slashers/grunts after they burn for a bit but it doesnt have that great bug dying sound from a large explosion and turrets/mines/other players can waste rounds on bugs that are guaranteed to die. compact rounds max damage gets the big explosion and kills bugs instantly so they cant hit you, but then you cant jump around. what do?

I found RJ250 to be incredibly underwhelming at bug killing no matter what I did for mods. Jumping around is definitely a hoot though.

driller is objectively the weakest, most dead weight class that attracts retards with the biggest ego. In 95% of the situations you are better off bringing another engie. Even in 5% of situations where you can shave off 5 minutes of digging a safety net of having extra defense/firepower with double gunner or engie is preferable

I still haven't tried it because whenever I equip it I forget I have it. What exactly does it do? Is the next burst just a bit stronger? I guess if it causes your Turret to almost or completely delete something that could be good. I don't much care for the rapid fire alternative but I've grown into using it without wasting much ammo.

Engies are great but Driller is way better for crowds unless the Engie is burning through fat boys. I feel way safer with a team having a balanced comp.

It's max range barely affects how far away it explodes. Every time I shoot it (I rarely host) it explodes right on top of the bugs. It's literally free aoe range.

My issue is that it doesn't impact swarm timers at all, so if a swarm does appear you have to fall back and lose progress you made. Getting pubs to fall back as well is beyond impossible, so they'll just fight both and die. Bet-C has that issue too, but that fight isn't anywhere near as long. Prospector will at least fuck off if you leave it alone as well.

Stop thinking about Driller in terms of primary/secondary, it's the only class with a weapon in every slot.

While it wasn't mine, it was my brother's; but when the drop pod was in the launch countdown, he was in an area where if he wasn't his class, he wouldn't have gone out. There was a gunner with him in that area and assumed that they'd use the wire and left him behind. Gunner didn't make it, so he went back to revive him. Gunner failed again, but he got to the pod with only 2 second left to spare.

Cryo/Drills are about equal in most circumstances, technically the Cryo sees a bit more action due to praets/oppressors taking longer to freeze. If you learn to animation cancel your axes, you can even take out oppressors before they thaw. The best part about this loadout is even with all this melee combat, I still have EPC to mine with and take out mactera clouds.

I had this happen to me as a Scout.
End of the mission we're running to the drop pod. Two of us get downed and there's no chance of reviving them. I run ahead and get down. Gunner runs by with a huge swarm on his tail and he's stalled because the way back is out of reach. He sets up a zipline and he's knocked down by mactera. He runs back and barely gets a shield on my body and revives me and I zip out of there and get to the drop pod and I have to wait 3 mins for it to go. Kind of killed the thrill of the escape.

i think if you spend too much time in point extraction, it basically turns into an endless swarm.

There are 2 power cells that eject from the forcefield generator, but I've never heard about / noticed the ability to pick them up.

Use the boosted fire bonus on the second upgrade tier for the tentacles, it'll make them flee the moment you fill the bar. Also, if you can swing it, dropping a c4 on the top of the pyramid during the floaty corner phase will either kill them all or deal a bunch of damage.

Thanks to RNG point extraction can be nothing at all or an endless swarm. I have spawned into 10 + mactera types before and then after dying a couple of times had grunts spawn on me every five seconds.

Yes, Point Extraction by design works like this. Harder the longer you fuck around.

Driller is nice in sabotage because robots die instantly when you ignite them, although they are pretty resistant to igniting without the T2 (t2?) mod for it. This includes the tentacles in the last boss.

How in the blue FUCK do THREE scouts not knock out point extraction in anything less than 10 minutes MAX?

I still don't get it. All of those players have enough experience to know better. Crassus or not, 1 scout makes point extraction the easiest and fastest in-and-out mission in the game. All those scouts should permanently retire from deep rock, and preferably vidya altogether. Shameful display.

1 Scout also make a Crassus take a lot less time to clean up on mule-less mission types, it truly is just a shitshow all around.

save your axes for 1 shotting noodle arms by hitting them in the head

c4 for corners (if you cant go up to the ceiling to drop it on the middle take dash and run up on the platform and throw it on the middle and dash away before you get electrocuted)

Turret EM Discharge is great when you have to defend an area, you would think the arc could work as well but it just sucks unless you can have the bugs all come from one direction

I criticized the time to kill, that it takes a huge amount of ammo - bullets - time - to kill big bugs,
it is not a good single target weapon for "taking out larger bugs"
wardens, menaces, mactera, bulks and slashers get melted just the same as oppressors user
goo bombers are definitely not a high value target outside of haz 3, basic spatial awareness nullifies their goo and their sacs are broken almost instantly with just 60 damage
the zhukovs have a higher skill ceiling and higher reward, try switching out your special powder training wheels
