Well, I promised I would look into it last thread, and here it is. On the hunch that our resident hedgjeets are both Indian and hedgies, I took a stroll through the publicly listed firms that are confirmed as being subject to the DOJ's criminal probe. The following firms have been reported as having received subpoena's related to the investigation, a small minority of these firms have confirmed that warrants were served: Melvin Capital Management, Orso Partners, Sophos Capital Management, Kerrisdale Capital Management, Hindenburg Research, Viceroy Research, Anson Funds, Muddy Waters Capital, Citron, Atom Investors, Bonitas Research, Connective Capital Management, Falcon Research, GeoInvesting, Gotham City Research, GrizzlyRock Capital, J Capital Research, Oasis Management, Park West Asset Management, QKM, Sabrepoint Capital Management, Silverado Capital, Spruce Point Capital Management, Valiant Capital Management, White Diamond Research. Looking through the firms named here, Kerrisdale Capital Management stood out to me. They are an Indian run business, their founder is Sahm Adrangi who was arrested in 2016 on cocaine possession charges during a DUI although I haven't checked arrest records or court proceedings to see if he served any jail time; I would suspect he didn't serve any jail time for this. Kerrisdale Capital Management are primarily long on 'Up Fintech' (TIGR), 'the Robinhood of China', underwritten by AMTD digital (HKD), more commonly known as Mr. Chukumber's Hong Kong pump & dump #1. They are also long Twitter and short DWAC. As an aside, I found that strangely enough every single short-seller on the DOJ investigation list is primarily invested in China, both on the long and short side. On one hand they target Chinese companies they call scams, but then they turn around and invest primarily in Chinese companies that are almost equally suspicious.
