The most basic, generic npc looking protag designs

Why do sv characters look so out of place

The art direction this generation is completely fucked.
There's zero consistency.

BW Ghetsis makes perfectly sense with the religious and sect illuminati theme, Poketard. And villains are supposed to be exaggerated, especially villains like these that do nothing but dance on a car and are disco themed contrarians to a school where you can only wear one uniform. Other than a ln obvious reference to emo/goth culture and similar shit which in south europe was hella common in 2009 among teens.

Ah wait, you're a poketard, you only see colors. Nevermind then!

>PC is an upstanding student and thus follows the dress code
>Villains are rebellious students who waste their potential, so dress as far as they can from it
Wow, so hard to follow.

I see a lot of consistency. You're just a retarded contrarian, you do this with every generation, you whined that Team flare had glasses completely ignoring the theme. "b-bUt thEy Look stYUuUPiiID::'''(((", welcome to pokemon ,it's fucking villains Ina pokemon game and major characters in pokemon are supposed to stick out such ways.

Yes, that's how school uniforms tend to look

Multiple artists doing the official art for characters, probably.

>left: normal androgynous prepubescent child before secondary sexual characteristics appear
>right: androgynous abomination before nature

shes pennys older sister calling now

>left is just a generic girl, dressed by her conservative mom
>right is a rebellious adult who can do whatever the fuck she wants

>androgynous
Where the fuck do you live that has boys who look like that? Asking for a friend.

Whoever the lead artist and designer were smoking crack.

this, shit really went south with the switch era. every switch pokémon game looks wildly different from each other and the style clashes are coming to a head with SV

What the fuck happened bros? Even the worse designs from LA like Irida at least look like they're part of a single game.

The style differences between the Switch games are one of the only good things about the dex cut. Makes the series less homogenized.

But yes, the art style for SV sucks.

meds now

Doesn't matter because they're stylized 2d designs shoehorned into different style 3d models and this shit doesn't match whatsoever. If they wanted this detailed 3d artstyle then the 2d character references should be in the same style. Maybe then the designs would be consistent in-game. Instead they stuck to the usual, simplified anime style and tried to translate it into 3d models afterwards, and the results are, unsurprisingly, inconsistent.

I want both

*yawn*

still cherrypicking and lying?

I want to impregnate both

It doesn't take a genius to see what they were going for, however that doesn't make the design any less awful. There's simply no justification for the hair and pants.
