Bug Type Appreciation

It is well known that the creator of Pokemon, Satoshi Tajiri, was was inspired by his childhood insect-collecting hobby, and the games are meant to be a way for kids to experience that same joy in an urban area.

How many Pokemon fans can identify with that?
Who else loved collecting or investigating bugs as a kid?
Do you think you'd ever translate your love of Pokemon into becoming some sort of hobbying naturalist?
What's your fav bug type? Post 'em!

I'll post Beedrill because I started up a Hive as a Beekeeper this year and am currently obsessed with Bees.

I’m essentially Viola, I love insects and arachnids and I especially love going out and photographing them

Also it might be cheating by game standards, but I’ll always hold Kabuto as one of my favorite arthropods in this series

My fav is easy. Paras. I just love this little thing.

I did an all grass run in Gen 1 and Paras was part of the team. I also refused to evolve it because what happens to Paras when it evolves is sad and I do not want the little Paras die.

In fact even though by end of the run he was the weakest of the team, he was probably my most used and most appreciated of the team.

Just swept Brandon with a Beedrill.

I just started getting deep into bug photography this year. Do you have any tips? Maybe less tips about photographic technique and more about the insects themselves. Like rare bugs or somethin

based

what about Scyther?

I had a plastic container filled with various bugs once. Started when I caught a grasshopper, ended when it died. I didn't really consider the lack of food being an issue for it and the rest of the bugs

Bless gen 5 and beyond (not you gen 6) for making early bug mons have a bst that isn't a joke
Flick was my mvp in black 2 with scope lens leaf blade, x-scizzors, swords dance and slash

I love Bug types. My favorites are Scizor, Crustle, and Centiskorch, but the whole type pool is great.
I'm looking forward to eventually getting a Legednary Bug and the missing Bug dual-tupes.

>one Bug/Ground and its a base stage
FUCKING HOW

The devs simply don't respect bugs.

Wormadam

My best encounters have all been completely natural. That’s not to say you can’t intentionally head out and try to get pictures, but you usually stumble upon the opportunities while doing something else. Basically, always have a camera with you

I simply discount that pokemons existence

true. good point. if i keep just relying on going out in the morning i'll miss all the other bugs that aren't doing morning stuff

Also when I will inevitably do an all bug run in Gen 1 I will have to resist the temptation of catching a Paras early. Instead I will have to wait until I reach the Safari zone to catch a Parasect. I cannot with a good conscience evolve a Paras. At least when you catch a wild Parasect you know he is too far gone and the reason he is a zombie isn't because of you.

What if it's just a lie perpetuated by Big Pokemon Center?
from Legends
> Mushroom-lacking specimens of this Pokémon lie unmoving in the forest, lending credence to the hypothesis that the large mushroom is in control of Parasect's actions.
They're hinting that it's not actually true. Just a dumb theory. The mushrooms and the bug are symbiotic and love each other.... right?
