Yes, Yellow was my first, then went back and played Blue and hated Blue/Red. Yellow sprites were so much better looking.
Played/owned every gen since Pokemon game since. XY are still my favorites, story was shit but Megas were cool as fuck and Amie is still the most interactive way to engage with your mons, for lots of...reasons. Megas should be brought back and expanded on.
