Whacky evolution methods have existed since Gen 3

True.

If you need the internet to know how to evolve a Pokemon it's bad game design. Simple as.

that's soulful though

Why do zoomers hate it when things aren't spelled out and handed to them on a silver plater? Did you hate the Regi quest in RSE?

How tf would you figure this out without the internet/a game guide

>game forces you to Bing how to evolve it
>SOVL

NOT THE HECKIN GOOGLERINO

pain in the ass
just make it use a dusk stone

Literally all they had to do was make this information available in the game and it would be soulful.

>muh unnecessary steps is soulful
Nigger just make it evolve by using a stone or by friendship like a reasonable human being and stop niggering the game with niche garbage that gets obsolete in the next game.

Just go play showdown, you dopamine fiend.

Novel evolution methods are cool but some of them are just bizarre and obtuse. Is there a flavor/lore reason why it evolves this way? I didn't play SwSh

How were we supposed to know that metal coat mons needed to be traded in Gen 2?

You may seethe all you want, it wont stop gamefreak from making a pokemon in gen 9 evolve if you have a pokemon use soak on them at exactly 9:PM on a sunday night all while holding the switch upside down

SOVL

Item-trade evos are shit.
It would have been a cool idea if there were only 2-3 of them and they all evolved with items you'd want to equip that pokemon with anyway.

>new Porygon2 evo that requires you to write a javascript ingame
kino...

Didnt the swsh leaker encounter this randomly?

With today's kids getting lazier and dumber I expect gen 10 to have an in-game microtransaction market to just buy new Pokemon

PLA did "cryptic" evolutions the best. They were all marked with red arrows in the dex to encourage you to try those moves out.

Can't you just use a Focus Sash?

>The fact that Galarian Yamask evolves into Runerigus after taking at least 49 damage could be a very subtle reference to the Bardo Thödol, a Buddhist concept of Purgatory after death and before reincarnation; this process of Buddhist Purgatory is said to last 49 days.

From Bulbapedia.

bulbapedia's trivia are often insane made up shit and even if that's true, why would a monster designed after european runes have an evolution based on buddhist reincarnation myths? That's retarded

thank god for the autists who write bulbapedia
where would we be without them?
