Gen 13? Explain

not enough Fal'Cie

Gen 7 - SM (+81 Pokémon)
Gen 8 - USUM (+5 Pokémon)
Gen 9 - LGPE (+2 Pokemon)
Gen 10 - SWSH (+81 Pokemon)
Gen 11 - IoA (+3 Pokemon)
Gen 12 - CT (+5 Pokemon)
Gen 13 - LA (+7 Pokemon)
The whole generation dynamic is breaking down. Not only did we have two entirely new regions in Gen 8 (Hisui), but we also have new Pokemon in nearly every game now.

He's using RetardMerrick logic.

Hisui isn't a new region, retard

>USUM (+5 Pokémon)
?

Yea, in fact it’s so old it’s ancient

Poipole, Naganadel, Zeraora and those other 2 UBs

I've always considered a new generation to start when new starters are introduced. But it's possible they could change that eventually, too.

New Utlra Beasts and Zeraora.

Hisui has different starters

It has new alternate forms for old starters, but not new starters.

Gale of Darkness introduced Bonsly and Munchlax so

Gen 5 - DP
Gen 6 - BW
Gen 7- XY
Gen 8 - SM

and so on

>GaaS Pokemon game that drip feeds new mons rather than having a full gen worth at release.
That sounds awful, but believable in the not so distant future.

What constitutes a new gen are the mechanic overhauls:
>gen 2 introducted Special Atk/Def split, Dark- and Steel-types, shinnies, breeding and held items, new type match-up table
>gen 3 introduced abilities, natures, IVs and EVs instead of stat experience and doubles, new damage formulas and exp curves, new base stats and new move stats, new type match-up table
>gen 4 introduced the physical/special split
>gen 5 introduced triples, hidden abilities and infinite use TMs instead of consumables, eggs are born in Level 1, new exp gain formula, new type match-up table
>gen 6 introduced Fairy-type, megas, ability capsure to change a mon ability, and super training to easily rise/reduce EVs, new exp gain formula, new base stats and new move stats, new type match-up table
>gen 7 introduced caps and hyper training to permanently increase IVs, as well as Z-moves, new exp gain formula, new type match-up table
>gen 8 introduced mints to change a mon nature, candies and dyna/gigantamax, new move stats

PLA is so different mechanic-wise that it's hard to call it gen 8:
>completely new battle system
>completely new base stats
>completely new move stats
>completely new damage formula
>completely new exp curves
>completely new exp gain formula
>completely new effort level system

>Rowlet, Cyndaquil and Oshawott
>new

PLA is the new gen 2. We even craft pokeball from apricorns.

i'm a big fan

why is this bad? adding smaller batches of pokemon as they feel they need to is better than getting a mass dump of 60 every 3 years.

PLA is not a gen because its a spin-off game. You don't call pokemon mystery dungeons a different gen.
