Sword Art Online

Reminder that it wouldn't have been hated anywhere near as much if they completely skipped ALfheim and GGO and went straight to Alicization

Alicization is still pretty shit

doesn't kirito die or some shit

>and GGO
Alfheim had issues and felt like it dragged on but GGO was good. Sinon's backstory, the action and atmosphere in that part of the story was good. Ignore the people whining over a lack of realism vis a vis character designs in GGO.

Nigga, the purple drank lightsaber was rad.

>GGO was good
it was worse than alf, it took boring and stupid to a whole new level

An attempt was made. Alicization was amazing compared to the earlier series. It had scope, it had vision, it does a good job of making people nostagia for the original but it still wasn't good. I was completely floored by it and it did have its moments which credit where credit is due were great, but the series just goes on waaaay too long in the beginning and it kind of flounders in the middle. I enjoyed the final battle but my god it really takes a certain fan to really sit and take all that bull shit. Its bad. It only tops the original because the series is a franchise now and the original didn't have the budget they clearly through at this series.

Don't you think that's a bit disingenuous? GGO had a more compelling world than Alfhiem, it didn't drag on like Alfheim and it actually had good action unlike Alfheim. But please elaborate on how it supposedly took "it took boring and stupid to a whole new level"?

He became vegetative twice (once in the real world and again in the simulation where his fluctlight (in-world explanation of souls being converted into data was stored).

while alfeim was just generic bad GGO's world made no fucking sense in any aspect and couldn't even make up for that fact by having anything remotely interesting
shion is a bland piece of shit and death gun was hilariously bad

>made no fucking sense in any aspect
What aspects? And why does it need to? It succeeds in being entertaining and it is significantly better than Alfhiem.

>and couldn't even make up for that fact by having anything remotely interesting
shion is a bland piece of shit
>bland
You keep repeating that buzzword but you don't really say anything. I think GGO tells a compelling story about a girl who plays online gun games to overcome her PTSD due to a traumatic experience involving a gun. It also did a surprisingly good job of reinvigorating my interest in the series after SAO wasted tons of potential with it's nonsensical pacing.

>and death gun was hilariously bad
Again, more adjectives and no substantial points.

>What aspects?
for one the fact everyone's characters are randomly generated in an MMO, the genre where people obsess over designing their character, and is somehow popular
and then kirito manages to look just like himself but as a femboy and shino is nearly identical to her real self
>You keep repeating that buzzword
didn't know the single use of a word was repeating it
> a compelling story about a girl who plays online gun games to overcome her PTSD
she has a fear of guns yet can perfectly go into a hyper realistic reality and be a god sniper, shit's dumb as fuck and not at all "compelling"
>no substantial points
there's nothing to be said if you genuinely thought anything about death gun was well written

>Ywn be bullied and humiliated by Alice synthesis thirty
Why even live?

>for one the fact everyone's characters are randomly generated in an MMO, the genre where people obsess over designing their character, and is somehow popular
>and then kirito manages to look just like himself but as a femboy and shino is nearly identical to her real self
pottery I knew you were going to retort with this nonsense. Why would that matter? The character designs look aesthetic and attractive.

>didn't know the single use of a word was repeating it
Oh, my mistake. Forget about that.

>she has a fear of guns yet can perfectly go into a hyper realistic reality and be a god sniper, shit's dumb as fuck and not at all "compelling"
Those guns are NOT real though. Don't tell me playing a horror game and being in a horror scenario are the same.

>shit's dumb as fuck and not at all "compelling"
I disagree. It seems like a fitting backstory for a girl who who is highly invested in a gun game.

>there's nothing to be said if you genuinely thought anything about death gun was well written
He's fine as a mysterious villain. SAO gets unwarranted hate for things that don't really matter as far as being entertaining is concerned.

Reminder that they killed the male ai just so they could add the female ai to kirito's harem. GGO and Aliciization was just as retarded as the first 4 seasons.

It still baffles me how the LN began and ended as a solid short story with only one arc and a great setting, AND THEN it started shitting nonstop fillers that happened in between, including waifus, daughters and all that other shit

How to find my real life asuna gf bros?

>Why would that matter?
it adds nothing and is just a poor excuse to have femboy kirito but then almost all the writing is just excuses to do something
>playing a horror game and being in a horror scenario are the same
we don't have hyper realistic VR technology that fully immerses every sense in the human body but even then someone with serious PTSD for guns would probably still be scared even with our current level of VR
>He's fine as a mysterious villain
but it's not even mysterious, we know everything they did and it was fucking stupid

SAO wouldn't be as hated if it's fans accepted it for what it is, mediocre wish fulfillment. Trying to pretend it's more than what it is leads to equal amount of pushback as people poke holes into it's dumptruck sized plot holes

>it adds nothing and is just a poor excuse to have femboy kirito but then almost all the writing is just excuses to do something
I see you're not talking about sinon now. Her character design looks great. Also with regards to Kirito, his GGO design definitely added to the narrative.

>but then almost all the writing is just excuses to do something
What you even talking about? To do what?

>we don't have hyper realistic VR technology that fully immerses every sense in the human body but even then someone with serious PTSD for guns would probably still be scared even with our current level of VR
Okay this isn't a bad point. Finally you've said something decent. But I don't see this as a major issue. People are different maybe this just isn't something that affects her. Also the knowledge that you're in a game and that it isn't reality is a highly relevant factor to consider.

It has it's highs and it's lows so I don't think an overall evaluation says much accurately about the series. Some arcs and aspects of the show are significantly better than other. The best way to describe SAO would probably be wasted potential.
