Unpopular opinion

I love Goku when he's just an amoral guy who just wants a good fight, no matter what.

People who bitch about him being a bad father or risking universes for the Tournament of Power are losers.

Goku has never been amoral or a bad father. For how simple a story Dragonball is it's amazing how much it's misunderstood.

>goku
>amoral
wut?

>lets Bejita go after he and Nappa wiped out 2 cities
>lets Freeza power up to 100% and then lets him go for no reason other than to spite him
>heals Cell back up to perfect health before letting him beat up his 12 year old son

>lets Bejita go after he and Nappa wiped out 2 cities

This one is definitely selfish but Goku acknowledged it was selfish and later regrets it.

>lets Freeza power up to 100% and then lets him go for no reason other than to spite him

Goku had just turned Super Saiyan which is known to make the user more aggressive and he wanted to avenge Krillin.

Not a perfectly good reason but still a reason.

>heals Cell back up to perfect health before letting him beat up his 12 year old son

Giving Cell the senzu made him more confident and not panick then use his full power.

This was smart in hindsight.

Literally none of that is amoral. Your last point is outright disingenuous

Letting people who have murdered planets go after they killed your friends for a good or fair fight is arguably amoral.
Yes, killing is bad but self defense and damage control isn't. It also helped him in the narrative of the series but morality is subjective already. He's certainly not worst father of the year.

That's great and all but:
1. He was portrayed as a hero in DB and Z (the dub amplifies it but it's true for the original manga too).
2. He is canonically pure of heart
3. He is portrayed as a good guy loved by everyone in Super. Even during the ToP it's framed as if the people that hate him are mistaken.

Goku isn't completely lacking in values and virtues. But he's not a model person either

>3. He is portrayed as a good guy loved by everyone in Super. Even during the ToP it's framed as if the people that hate him are mistaken.

Qualities of a Mary Sue. That makes him substantially worse than if he was actually called out.

Goku is a decent guy, sometimes careless but overall he knows not to fuck around and wishes the best for his community and planet.

My words exactly

>lets Bejita go after he and Nappa wiped out 2 cities
Death barely has any consequence in DB. Goku knows people souls go Otherworld when the body dies so it's not as big a deal as it seems to atheists
>lets Freeza power up to 100% and then lets him go for no reason other than to spite him
He allowed Frieza to power up so he could completely refute Frieza's belief he was absolutely superior. He then "let him go" because Frieza begged him and Goku had hope Frieza would redeem himself how Piccolo and later Vegeta did.
>heals Cell back up to perfect health before letting him beat up his 12 year old son
To Goku, this was a show of confidence in his son's power to beat Cell and it ultimately did result in Gohan unlocking SS2. Goku was correct.

Crazy how the show makes more sense when you stick your head out of shitty internet parodies and memes, huh?

>Death barely has any consequence in DB. Goku knows people souls go Otherworld when the body dies

Heroes get to keep their bodies. Everyone else gets reincarnated without their memories.

>Heroes get to keep their bodies. Everyone else gets reincarnated without their memories.
Exactly what I said. The souls don't disappear.

Losing your memories is the same as no longer existing.

No.

Not that user, but I agree with what he said.

It's not exactly the same but it's similar

>>lets Bejita go after he and Nappa wiped out 2 cities
he was completely humilliated and goku thought he could become an ally in the future, he was right his moral won
>>lets Freeza power up to 100% and then lets him go for no reason other than to spite him
he wanted to see frieza go all out after he became super saiyan just to have a good fight in a planet that was going to explode anyways, he let him go after frieza almost killed himself since there is no point in fighting a criple, then frieza tried to backstab him and goku blasted his ass
>>heals Cell back up to perfect health before letting him beat up his 12 year old son
he, unlike everyone else, believed and knew that gohan could defeat cell if he used his potential, that wouldnt be possible when fighting a weakened cell and gohan wouldnt learn that fighting to protect others is ok and that he has to use his powers to stop defend the earth
goku was right in the end

Yes, correct. What point are you making?

He didn't even know what was Vegita doing in space, it's not on him to judge him for crimes he doesn't even know about
