Out of boredom I was checking out an old anime forum I used to browse waaay back in 2006 that's somehow still around, and I'm honestly shocked at how old some of the members are turning in the "birthdays" section.
All of them are in their mid-late 30s now. Fuck, I'm 31 now and I remember a good percentage of people on there being in their mid-20s when I was 13.
not sure what the point of this thread is. My friends and I still go to cons, its more like "take a bunch of drugs and party while going to fun panels" but seeing all these kids there is kinda strange. I barely even watch anything anymore but its fun.

they had families and settled down. mastering naruto lores wont put food on the table its over

Havent been to cons since I was 25 because I don't want to be the creepy old guy there, and all the zoomers running around would definitely make me feel out of place.

Just go with your wife user
Caleb Edwards
these people just seemed like the definition of weeb trash at the time.
i can't imagine someone who was a hardcore fujo suddenly become a normie just because they hit 30.
Cooper Edwards
It's going to be funny seeing the first generation of self-proclamed gamers and weebs move into retirement. Old grandpas arguing over Asuka and Rei, reminiscing about Halo 2.
Jack Wilson
My wife doesn't like crowds and neither do I.
Camden Russell
the point is that the people i remember gushing about yaoi and shit are now pushing 40 or even 50 and i'm having trouble imagining those people as adults with mortgages and shit.
Lucas Ramirez
I'd say you're wrong about that, at 25 you're pretty much the exact age of most people there. I'm 31 so I don't feel out of place. as long as your cosplay is good enough and you're at least somewhat social adept you can pull hot con slags pretty easy too. Plus i go with a group.
Brandon Anderson
You only see what they posted on the forums. You can grow up to be well adjusted and still have the old hobbies and interests you had as a teenager. You don't know the ordinary looking accountant is a hardcore fujo because she hides her powerlevel. On the other hand some people simply lose interests. I've got friends who were super into anime 15 years, ago but barely even care any more. It's not that they suddenly grew a distaste for it, they just don't keep up or go out of their way to watch anything.
Dominic Rogers
we're still here. i'm the same age as you, so i'm assuming that, like me, you were among the youngest of your internet circle.
Jaxon Thompson
I used to have a group in college but they've since moved on to other hobbies, not to mention careers and having kids.
Eh, I have more income than I did back then so I'd be able to get more merchandise and other shit but that's money I'd rather keep in the bank than to put toward titty figures.
Ian King
i am still the world's foremost expert on naruto's physics and jutsu mechanics. doesn't mean i bring it up at work.
Cooper Smith
I've used to attend meets with people in their 30s back when I was in my late 10s/early 20s.. those people are heading to their 50s now.
I even knew a dude who wasn't even afraid to tell everyone he was a pedophile.
Samuel Gonzalez
Anime's big expansion in the west was during the early-to-mids 2000s. A large portion of the modern anime fandom got hooked around that time and never left, except for women. K-shit is what cool kids like these days.
Noah Allen
Oh yeah, pretty much. I used to ERP with girls in their mid 20s when I was 14 on those places.
Logan Barnes
I don't watch anime
Brody Lee
>What happened to the 2000s shonen fans? Shonen fans specifically? A lot of them generally grew out of anime or they just doubled down on being huge fans of the big shonen of their era rather than branching out into newer shonen or other older series.
If we're talking about older anime fans in general from the 2000s internet forum era, some of them just moved on with life, or doubled down harder and became wizards/masters of their craft, or because seasonal-watching became a thing in the 2000s watch 10-20 shows a season for the last 15-20 years.
I know that a lot of confirmed oldfags from early Any Forums and early Any Forums (confirmed ones, not self-proclaimed ones. The ones who became internet personalities like flash animators and OC creators and shit who you can actually prove were around 2003-2005) mostly just post 2000s nostalgia on twitter while vaguely following modern anime.

Hot.
Jaxon Jackson
As far as the doubling down on their favorite shonen bit goes, I see a lot of that mainly with DB and OP fans. HxH too. A lot of them are hitting 40 and over and still gush over powerlevels and shit.
