Fools, this is where Steins;Gate's brilliance shines the most. Yes they did tell her to eat vegetables, but did she eat them? No one knows, what caused the gender change here is the message itself and the fact they sent it, not her eating veggies like they told her. Maybe she DID eat vegetables, or maybe she saw the message and tripped, and that caused the change? No one knows, the possibilities are infinite. It's a butterfly effect.
I see several arguments designed to prove that this is not complete and objective shit. But I don't see a single argument - why this is a masterpiece, and not mediocrity.

I always assumed that he was born somewhere in between, and the doctors in the eighties went to the parents, and were like "we need to make a judgement call." It could explain the timefuck AND the androgeny. But ultimately I've never really done the research on what types of sex defects actually occur IRL.
