there's a completely different website dedicated to pre-2000 anime and it's a lot better place to discuss it.
>soundtracks
>webms with sound
>people aren't douchenozzles
good luck and godspeed.
I just started up the patlabor ova last night. only watched the first episode. it's not bad, but I'm hoping the next episode grabs me more
its unhelpful if you just gatekeep like that
cytu dot be/r/wapparty
>its unhelpful if you just gatekeep like that
I don't want to get banned just because I namedropped another website. It's not hard to find.
Neat
I just start watching Orguss.
based /ra/
oh so it's reddit. get the fuck outta here
that is a weird mech design.
>seating goes all the way back
>stirrups are mounted in the front, so it's clearly meant to be piloted in that posture
>landing skids way in the back
Personally I found the patlabor OVAs just pretty good, but then the movies are great
is there anything like kounai shasei?
somewhat lewd comedy but not cringe?
didn't liked 1+2 paradise much, that whole trope can't deal with girls sucks
>I don't want to get banned just because I namedropped another website.
so stupid
Yeah, too bad it sucks
I just started Macross
>call me tonight
love me some /fa/ with rape on the side
>people aren't douchenozzles
I can fix that if you want
there is 0 discussion happening here. it's dead
>there is 0 discussion
you mean shitflinging?
no i mean the board is not moving whatsoever
peak in the last 7 days was 6 post per hour that is pretty good for a board with less then 20 people active
I see multiple discussions, it's just not very active yet. It did just launch on new years after all
All those that are complaining about no activity yet not posting themselves are part of the problem.
Solve the problem you toe in the water sissies.
there are no good altchans
>let's just settle with the deteriorating husk of this site
gookmoot would be proud
I don't just want to talk about old stuff. Good luck with the site though, the watch party was nice.
>ignoring the superior bbs
ngmi
I think there's eventually gonna be an /a2k/ board (someone suggested it) but the guy running it understandibly dosent just want the site to be an Any Forums clone
no one said you had to switch wholesale user, stop by sometime
I guess, why not
>takes place entirely in a victorian boarding school
>almost nothing ever happens throughout the show
>Sara is portrayed like a saint and not as a vindictive shitstain as she actually is in the original book
>you can actually feel the writers are struggling to find material for 46 episodes
>animation quality is painfully inconsistent
>even the SoL setting couldn't be able to help as it did in Anne and Daddy Long Legs as the souce material was too dark and heavy for that
This was so far one of the worst WMT adaptations that I've sat through. Still, not as bad as Lassie and Trapp Family.
have you watched tom saywer?
is it man?
I fucking love this guy.
No, not at all. Is it worse tho?
Nope, Just flat.
no but it is revisionist like princess sara.
this would never air nowadays
also what is it from? yandex doesn't work with collage
I'm waiting for a kickstart update on my order.
It's from Gu Gu Ganmo
I can take Tom Sawyer because it has a dynamic storytelling and actually more open to adaptation. Same also applies to Tom Sawyer or Romeo. But when you want to adapt a book like for example, at this case, Little Princess, you have to dilute a little bit to make it more amiable for SoL adaptation otherwise all you get is a prolonged melodrama which turns into a black comedy at the end. What that show actually needed was more lighthearted content.
Cute butt
thanks user
hot
Everything about that show screamed like "yeah, this is gonna be depressing". Even the main theme is considerably heavier than the usual j-pop stuff WMT shows actually had at that time. I mean, just look at it.

And now compare these with this. I mean, this isn't even pop, this is actually enka.
youtube.com
Don't overdo it. It's already been linked ITT.
Orguss supposedly flopped in toy sales compared to Macross or Gundam because the mech designs were too weird.
yeah, i know i just wanted to bump the thread
Yandex allows you to search the part of the image
Visionary is another light-hentai from U-jin.
Creamy Lemon Pop Chaser is well worth watching (most of Creamy Lemon is just assorted yuri but that OVA is great).
I hate early boards because I want to post more to make it alive but don’t want to post too much because I feel like i’m spamming. That said /ar/ is something i’ve wanted for years so i’ll participate in the hopes we can get a decent userbase.
I agree with the other user. The OVAs are decent fun but the first 2 movies are great
I think everyone feels that way, even the guy who runs it dosent post often by the looks of it. It's just the growing pains of any board, don't think about it too hard
i know exactly what you mean, the worst part is when it feels like yelling the void
There are some but they are not English ones
Are you ready for xabungle?
Get on the stream.
I'm sort of on the fence. I'd love to get a proper English BD but I imagine it's just gonna be the same crappy Japanese BD. I doubt very much the guys running it have the same eye for visual quality you'd get out of people like dicotek and it will just end up being the same denoised garbage.
It's good but the fact that two of the main characters have the same seiyuus as Ataru and Shinobu is really fucking distracting
I need a Gowcaizer BD in my lifetime
bump
I just visited /ar/ for the first time. Is it normal for the reply function to not work? I tried making four posts and they just didn't seem to appear? I just hope it didn't seem like I was spamming or something.
Depending on your browser it might just not let you use the fast reply.
Fast reply uses JavaScript so if you have that disabled or it just refuses to work you can always use the regular reply box at the top
Issue is, the reply box at the top didn't work either. It wasn't just fast reply. Could just be an issue with my machine though, I'll restart it and see if it works.
>Sara is portrayed like a saint and not as a vindictive shitstain as she actually is in the original book
I love how she insults Becky and Ermengarde for being dumb and regularly fantasises about torturing Minchin in the actual novel.
I'm halfway through Vifam. I'm really enjoying it so far and seeing all the characters grow up and learning to become good at the jobs that were forced on them and support each other is really good to see. Might be a new favorite of mine if the last 10 episodes are good.
I recently started Sorcerer Hunters and have been loving it. Any recommendations that have a similar tone and style?
I'm not sure if there's much that's A LOT like that particular brand of fantasy. But it did get a follow up OVA and a spinoff called Sorcerer on the Rocks. But if you just want sort of goofy 90s fantasy there's Orphen, Ruin Explorers and Slayers.
>pointlessly massive pauldrons
man, I miss that shit.
I love pauldrons
Stream is done, thanks for showing up everyone
slayers is closest. but it also blows. overrated trash show. honestly the sorcerer hunters manga is very good. give it a shot.
Ignore this faggot. He is a faggot.
It was fun!
Tell me Any Forums.
Do you like oldschool techno magic hybrids? Dystopian desert planets? Giant pauldrons? Girls in high cut leotards with giant guns? Robo dudes? Space wizards? Cool speeder bikes? And what about awesome synth glam rock?
Holy shit that blocking is atrocious, how can you take a screenshot like this and think it looks fine?
> he hates it
I don't go out of my way to take reference quality screenshots so anonymous posters on a mongolian basket weaving forum won't make fun of me.
Look interesting, may watch.
I wasn't trying to make fun of you, if I wanted that I'd allude to the other posts you've made using that image on other boards.
It just happens to be one of the ugliest screenshots I've ever seen, almost looks like someones playing a game of tetris on the blanket.
Oshii really likes birds
and basset hounds
Makoto Shinkai likes cats. Literally every anime he's ever made has at least one cat in it.
Started watching Revolutionary Girl Utena with my sister after we finished Neon Genesis Evangelion. I've also been watching VOTOMS and a few episodes of Stop! Hibari-Kun!
Leiji Matsumto always finds a way to fit some cats into his work too.
dubbed orgus is painfully and horribly done to the point its charming
plastic little
Watched Lupin Part I dub on wcostream green jacket is smooth but red jacket is way more enjoyable with the more outlandish ep(I.e Yams defeating goemons sword)
Watching Sailor Moon first season.
I'm amazed at how erotic all the girls are. The legs, the figures, the short skirts.
I swear I can see Jupiter's butt when she transforms.
For me it's the hair. Oh the hair. If there's anything I miss from old anime it's the lovely lively voluminous hair. So radiant and wonderful. You could embrace and sink your whole self into it.
>got my girlfriend who doesn't watch anime to watch Lupin The 3rd The Castle Of Cagliostro for her first anime movie
>"user is there more of these?"
Feels Great Man
I mean it's basically a disney movie so she probably wants more of that rather than more Lupin.
If you're not digging the slow-paced almost SOL focus of the OVA or the weird pacing of the movies, Patlabor on Television might be what you enjoy most.
IMO, Patlabor the Movie has terrible pacing and Patlabor 2 looks beyond gorgeous but doesn't exactly have the spirit. Either movie doesn't really have a good payoff either. Still worth watching though.
Don't forget fisheyes
show her gold of babylon next
Watched Little Nemo.
Not exactly anime but they had japs work on it including Miazaki and i think i can tell the parts he worked on.
Animation was top notch. Story not so much.
>Story not so much.
Which version did you watch? Because there's an edited version that cuts out like 20 minutes of actual plot and shit.
Just finished Utena. Started off boring and formulaic as fuck but just kept getting better and better until I was on the edge of my seat. Movie was great, but I'm not sure if it shed light on the same characters as the show necessarily, since some of them seemed to have changed
>95 minutes (Original cut)
>85 minutes (Edited cut)
my was 95
Recently watched Gunsmith Cats which completely blew me away with its quality. Also saw Bubblegum Crisis which was fucking great too.
Tried watching the followup Bubblegum Crash but the first episode was weak enough that I doubt I’ll continue, I’d rather just remember the top notch first series than have my memory associate it with (what seems like) such a subpar sequel.
Probably gonna check out Record of Lodoss War next. Recently played the metroidvania based on it and it was fun.
Check out A.D. Police Files and parasite dolls, same universe different characters
How do they compare to Crisis and Crash in terms of quality though?
You should watch Riding Bean if you haven't yet
I have actually, it’s great. Definitely recommend it to everyone in the thread.
