idk but they kind of set him up as a bit of a dick and then have given him little else so far, looks like he wont be in s1 much apart from this feast scene with Durin and Celebrimbor
Will be interesting to see what they decide to do with him considering he plays such important roles with the Annatar and especially Last Alliance parts of the story

1. They're not gonna introduce a guy named annatar, that'd be stupidly obvious
2. Gil-galad is trying to get rid of galadriel
3. Gil-galad is trying to convince the elves that sauron is gone for good
4. Gil-galad is setting up the forging of the rings through elrond and celebrimbor

It would be a fun twist and make some sense, it would feed into some of the stuff about Galadriel in UT too about Sauron viewing her as his biggest obstacle so of course the first thing he would want to do is remove her from the picture.
