Why is Joan of Arc someone that many men admire and adore, while the media's attempts to create admirable female characters don't work and are just annoying and mediocre?

Juana is war, bold, brave but it just doesn't work with others.

Joan was led by God. She was only capable because she was directed by the Almighty.
Its much more believable as a concept than a competent woman operating off her own merits

My god she's beautiful

Old=good
New= bad
Joan was a nutjob that failed spectacularly but since she was romanticized for almost a millennium no amount of criticism can take her off. If you heard about the damsel of Orleans today you'd probably make memes like the ones about the ghost of kiev

>Joan was a nutjob that failed spectacularly
Then how come the English lost

>while the media's attempts to create admirable female characters don't work and are just annoying and mediocre
I'm pretty sure they do work but you wouldn't know it by browsing Any Forums.org. No one here is the target audience for this kind of shit.

Because she acted like a woman and led without trying to be a man? She was effectively a glorified cheerleader but she still put herself in harms way. When it came to stand her ground, she did. She didn't try to run. And when they burned her, the pope himself excommunicated everyone responsible.

She represents the ideal of what a woman should be. There is nothing anyone accomplishes by changing her character or story.

Because Joan was sent by a higher power. Her brilliance wasn't an obnoxious arrogant posture like so many Strong Female Characters

She wasn't a one man army like a superhero. She both led and was led by other people, and was an inspiring force for them instead of being known for martial skill, wheras a modern stronk female character talks down to both her superiors and lessers. She ultimately suffered a bad end for her actions, and some would say hubris, which is impossible for a modern female character.

Because they lack humility.

Because France invested in new artillery and had some actual competent commanders. If you actually look into what Joan contributed it’s not much. The only few assaults she “supervised” failed spectacularly, after which she was mostly relegated to being a cheer leader. Also she never personally fought in any battle. The female knight archetype is a myth.

They are never original characters

Nah, not really. Joan ran circles around her prosecution. She was vindicated by history and literally the second the Pope heard what happened. If anything, she was a victim of corruption and overemotional pussies in the church seething some farmgirl made them look like idiots.

>without trying to be a man

She didn't fail at all, she managed to get Charles VII his crown and put him in a strong position pretty much dooming english standing on the continent.

She only lost when trying to take back Paris because Charles VII stopped backing here because diplomacy was more effective than keep fighting. Jeanne didn't listen and tried anyway.

Joan de Arc was simply a pet, exploited by the men around her as kind of a mascot, and to guilt men into following their lead. Everything else is just fabrication to appease feminists.

France was a superpower by the end of the hundred years war, and the anglosaxons were too busy bickering with each other over their new lands to form a coherent front. Since then france remained the most powerful nation in europe up until the napoleonic wars

History is full of them

Because instead of sitting around and bitching and asking for handouts of what men have made or being forced into some fake movie role she went out and DID something, made something of herself. You can sit around and bitch about muh lack of representation or you can write your own book or show, make your own art. She lead an army

Joan of Arc was a teenage virgin.

First she-s virtuous and pious, with a God given mission, modern heroines are about themselves.
Then she was feminine while modern heroines are simply imitations of men.
She bore the standard, didnt go around pretending she could match men swinging a sword.
Also according to the generals she was a master at directing artillery to where it would do most damage. Which is weird considering she was a peasant. But If you have St.Michael whispering in your ear its easy...

This. People like to say that history is sexist, but Joan of arc is famous almost entirely because she was a woman. Now people don’t even remember the plethora of actually competent French commanders and soldiers that did the fighting and like to imagine that Joan was some winged crusader waging a one woman war against the English. In reality she was a mascot.

Everyone needs their waifus

Gilles de Rais movie when?

*nglish hands tipped this.

>History is full of them
