The design in itself isn't retarded, it's supposed to be a cargo after all. What's retarded is making it a mary sue of a ship capable of doing anything better than any other ships.

Lore also says it's supposed to be one of the most successful models of all time, yet it's the only one in the entire series.

It looks cool and my pea brain can rationalize its design. It's a good and fun science fiction design. Not everything in fiction has to be 100% practical because in real life a lot of military designs haven't been practical either.

Space.. the final frontier.
A beautiful Constitution Class vessel right there.

What's with all the exposed parts? Is it missing access panels or something?

The Falcon is also really modified, though a lot of the YT vessels are stated to be easily (illegally) modified.

You can see a couple of other models in episodes 1 and 3 IIRC, but it's just some blink-and-you'll-miss-it easter eggs

Wait till you see YT's newer model.

It's like how mailmen have the driver side on the wrong side as everyone else. It fits the job the vehicle is used for.

In the original model, it made sense as a light freight because modules could be attached at the notch (the ship was more of a tug than a freighter). That one has no such attachment point

YT-1300's are awesome. The Falcon itself was a janky piece of shit piloted by a dickhead who had more luck than skill.

Newer than the YT-1300, older than the 2400

That's the K0K-BL5 model though.

What's the coolest but least practical ship in Star Wars? Slave 1 is awesome but how could you have anything stationary in it? Wouldn't you have to remake your bed every single time you land?

I've always preferred the refit version

>improves your cargo ship design
