I haven't played EU3 since EU4 came out almost 10 years ago.

Yea I would actually

The graphics are so goddamn ugly, this is the ugliest game to ever exist. EU4 looks so much better, and I'm busy with my first Ottoman playthrough in EU4, on hard. I let Spain balloon out of control and it's only now, in the midgame, that the first gutwrenching war with them is to take place. Each nation has about 320k troops and their navy far outstrips mine (50 heavies vs my 20). I don't have the heart to do it tonight so I'm gonna get drunk and see what happens tomorrow.

I only play Napoleon Total War

Ottoman is very easy mode no matter what difficulty you play on you subhuman knuckledragger.

You should try playing a German elector state

VGH

The start was pretty tricky, with everyone breathing down my neck due to AE. Had two false starts, even. Also, both Spain and I are allied to France, so I have to start a fake war against Austria first to keep France busy while I work on breaking their alliance and blitzing Spain. Did I mention we're evenly matched and that I won't be able to use naval transport/strait crossings between north Africa and Iberia? This is not gonna be a cakewalk.

Last game I played was Mughals and I got bored after conquering all of Asia and fighting the Ottomans with our 1 mil deathstacks for 20 years
Wish the endgame of eu4 was more interesting

Austria and Castille are good countries to play as

Why 3? I'm not a Paradox oldfag. I started with CK2 and then EU4.

Do you want me to do a BBC run on eu4 and upload it to int?

I'm not a EU4 noob, I've played plenty of runs before, just not as the Ottomans. In Europe I've done Byzantium, Brandenburg, the Teutonic Order, England, Lubeck, Gelre, Austria, Muscovy, the Papal State and Scotland (into the US).

What's the opening strategy for Austria?

Portugal is the most fun in the game desu.

Try kharabakh

Pretty similar to Castile isn't it?

PU Bohemia and Hungary in the first 10 years, integrate them by the time of the league war, pick offensive or quality military ideas early on (as you should always do) become invincible. I didn't do any crazy Florry starts, so I only conquered all of Europe except for Britain by 1750.

Portugal is better because you can build your trade empire faster and get better events. Spain is kind of cringe because you have to confront OP France. Porguese Japan by 1550.

you can’t look at that France and tell me it’s not built to be conquered by superior virile Englishmen

And yet Henry VI was a dysgenic retard. VGH WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN

I did Ardabil into Persia, breaking the Qara Qoyunlu was very rewarding. My overcomplicated dream run atm is to create a Parsi Zoroastrian Persian Empire, but Parsi is an Indian culture, so it'd require some clowning around

My favorite EU4 game was as Kilwa, keeping whitey out of Africa and dominating the Indian ocean. Also Makassar > Malaya (colonizing Australia pretty early on) and Jianzhou > Manchu > Qing.

*strats

I liked the tag change runs most of all, forming Malaya, Qing and the Mughals from some minor state.

You have to be braindead to lose a war to the ai in eu4, you can easily win every time by getting loans, its not even a strategy game, but a map painter with some poorly implemented strategy game features

He's losing AS THE OTTOMANS LOL

>offensive or quality
I prefer offensive. Too many unnecessary bullshit naval ideas in quality for my liking. Aristocratic is underrated too imo.

I've done Aztec and Mali playthroughs and good God do they make you hate the Spanish. A fucking war every goddamn year.

>isn't the strongest nation in the game by 1500 as the ottomans
fám, i...

I could unironically play Civ V with people from this thread

>EU3
It's been so long but yes, yes I would.
I'm still stuck at work for 3 more hours THOUGH

I tried an Aztec game once and fucked it up and never tried again but it's on my to-do list. I did Incas and that was pretty cool but there were long stretches without much going on.

>unironically play Civ V
I prefer to play these ironically. Very based that you said V because it's the best one.

>struggles with the ottomans

>taking loans
why even bother playing, just open ms paint and use the fill tool

I wrote thi haiku for that thread. you like?

>Victoria's secret?
>I would rather spread these sheets
>then post colonial cheeks

AE is a huge problem for the Ottomans in Europe and the Mamluk wars usually take a century instead of 2 years like it happened in history. Yeah, I'm the #2 world power, behind Spain. I allied Granada early on to curb their expansion, but they bypassed this by declaring war on Morocco and annexing Granada as a non-co-belligerent.

>I did Ardabil into Persia
Fucking based, I've tried this a few times but as yet unsuccessfully. That's a hard start. Any early pointers?

Eu4 looks like fat, dogshit tho

Never got into VI and can't back to every unit having one move in IV
National abilities ad flavour

It's really hard. I'd imagine Inca may be somewhat easier since Spain isn't so deadset on colonizing it. The Aztec area is pretty much on everyone's to-do list the entire time so you get these massive coalitions constantly declaring war on you.

>AE is a huge problem for the Ottomans
It's literally perfectly situated for you to abuse two separate AE timers on Christians and Muslims, retard.

Peak reddit

>I tried an Aztec game once and fucked it up and never tried again but it's on my to-do list.
did you try it with the latest DLC? or are you playing on very hard?

Still better looking than the abomination in the OP

I got gunshy about DLC. I had vanilla CK2 and enjoyed it, upgraded to full DLC and everything got super annoying immediately. Didn't really want to tarnish EU4, I think it's the basic DLC package.

Anyway it's either normal or hard difficulty not sure, I grew to be a super-state but quit around 1700 after playing constant defense for decades. It's just annoying, I like to focus more on the economy.

You kinda have to take loans as Byzantium, Wallachia, Serbia, Ardabil, or Hisn Kayfa.

Some of it carries over. I got coalitioned by Poland-Lithuania, Hungary, Austria, Venice and the Mamluks in the first 10 years of my first playthrough because I believed the hype and thought my 40k army invincible.

Can you still make provinces hold more development than all of Eurasia within a hundred years still?
I hate how broken the game is and how every new feature just feels like a gimmick for goyim to buy to get more money/manpower/mana instead of some interesting abstraction of management.

Oh the DLC makes it piss easy, makes Lat American civilizations some of the easiest in the game
because
>powerful bonuses
>gets strongest religions in the game
>AI can't move troops across oceans for shit
