Last Jedi wounded it, Rise of Skywalker killed it, The Mandalorian somewhat revived it. The advantage Star Wars has is they can just keep doing different stuff - like the TV shows they seem they are going to be focusing on for the foreseeable future, new films, games. Dune is more limiting in what they can keep doing with it. Audiences are pretty fickle in their attention span and what is popular. Wait till S3 of The Mandalorian comes out and you will have people focused on that again.
