Ignoring the fact that a dwarf knows what a nervous system is, when Legolas shot the Uruk's corpse it didn't twitch. Only when Gimli notched his axe back and forth did it cause its limbs to move slightly, meaning GIMLI FUCKING WON and Legolas straight up tried to steal his 43rd kill right in front of him.

That's why you never trust an elf.

fucking knife ears always stealing shit

It doesn't matter whether or not that one particular orc was dead, Legolas won in by the end of the third movie anyway.

Nah, helms deep battle was over.

Gimli knows, Gimli also identifies orcs by tasting their blood. He knows everything that there is to be known about orcs because hunting them is his purpose, he's an orc killing machine created by the dwarves.

Lego's total kill count beats Gimli's. That's all that matters.

ngl manlets get competitive about the dumbest shit

>heartfelt moment in the books
>Hackson turns it into cringe comedy
SAD

And yet the elf not only lowers himself to his contest, he also FUCKING CHEATS. Lanklets get the rope.

Legolas was too modest. Remember when the Uruk Hai used that giant crossbow to bring up the massive ladder? Legolas shoots the rope causing the ladder to fall back. He killed like 30 on the ladder and 50 more on the ground.

So if Gimli's body actor was played by a small woman, and they only show Rhys-Davies in close ups - how did they make him look so small in this scene????

Why was Gimli eviscerated into being the stereotypical comic relief dwarf?

Do you think he counted the torch bearer Uruk even though he wasn't dead when the mine went off?

most likely the Hollywood execs, tons of plot points got dumbed down and every character got flattened into an archetype with no depth. The fact it's still considered one of the greatest trilogies ever shows how low IQ the average film viewer is. Just copy and pasting a few lines of Tolkien's dialogue was enough despite mangling everything else. Shows how trash the average Hollywood script writer is in comparison

Probably because he didn't really have anything left to do in the story after the first movie, specifically after Moria.

He was barely important for the story from the beginning. He was just along for the right to kill stuff.

I hate this scene because Legolas clearly kills way more Uruks than Gimli. The ladder he dropped at least doubles what Gimli achieved. And Gimli's numbers seem low, too consider they were fighting so long.

Poorly thought out, and I'd like to edit it out of the extended edition along with a couple other bits.

Neither of them was keeping track of what the other was doing at the time of fighting. They could've just come up with any absurdly random number and win the argument. It was just for bantz anyway.

That's a good question. Legolas probably didn't. Gimli would have arguing the uruk would have died from his wounds regardless of the blast.

*had Gimli been the one to injure the uruk

People on middle earth are too pure and honorable to just lie about stuff like that.
