There was a short period in the late 2000s when MTV was actually trying to capitalize on the growing Latino market in the US by periodically playing more mainstream Mexican music. Back before they just shoved Puerto Rican and South American reggaeton as the default Latino music. I used to ditch high school with my gf and we'd drink and play cards in her living room with MTV in the background before her mom got home form work and I liked some of the Mexican songs that would get played. These would be sandwiched between shit like Paramore, Korn, My Chemical Romance, Weezer, Panic at the disco, System of a Down, Flyleaf, Killers, Green day, Mudvayne, Fall out boy, Linkin Park, etc It was a better time for music. I don't even think they play music videos on MTV anymore.

It was pretty comfy. Music videos and bad TV movies all day while sneaking beers from the Mexican neighbors. It was always hot and their shitty window AC would never fully cool the place so if you were sitting on the floor it was cool but on the couch it was warm. She put up black out curtains on the windows that faced the TV but they were too thin so this warm amber light would always come in. Didn't have a car at the time so we'd walk to the dollar store of Blockbuster to buy food and entertainment. I fucking wish emo girls were a thing again.
