Because technology made it unnecessary
Europe lost it's soul by being the first to modernize
Boxing, wrestling, rugby
There's also modern attempts to revive it using medieval and renaissance manuscripts
Do you remember that scene from Indiana jones where he shoots the assassin who is twirling the sword? Pretty much sums it up
Pretty much
Rugby is a martial art?
Archery, wrestling, boxing, fencing. There is also HEMA for larpers and autists.
Shooting gun is martial arts
It was a joke. It's basically codified violence.
because even a grand master that has spent 60 years mastering a martial art goes stiff in less than a second when shot with a gun.
Being strong or capable of hurting others is more of a fashion choice these days, or if you need it for self esteem issues.

Savate is still alive
This bionics shit is barley archery anymore. Sad that almost every European culture has modernised with time
Sadly this practice hasn't been carried into the modern age.
The difference between us modernizing and the rest of the world modernizing is that we had no incentive to hold on to old ways or whatever. Because modernization in other regions of the world was kind of a byproduct of western imperialism, they made an effort to preserve their traditions and stuff.
This, and Japan is autistic and turns everything into an art form.
because martial arts weren't perceived as some autistic code/lifestyle shit like in Asia, it was just a means to kill one another and when it became obsolete it was dropped.
That's not why.
Western Europe has always valued progress more than holding on to tradition.
Which is why we are by far and large the top dog for ever more. No amount of shitposting about "muh sjw" "muh immigrants" "muh degeneracy" will change it. Get used to being under the western boot
Because we have modern martial arts. Carpet bombing, nukes and assault rifles
Also economic sanctions and occupation are bellicose hobbies
What about that grecco roman wrestling, that's a European martial art, isn't it?
It's true though. The same European drive for "progress" is now eating it from within. Poetic.
yes yes, we kept it alive by being gay
actually europe preserved the most
>goes stiff in less than a second when shot with a gun.
Not true. 9mm are surprisingly useless. There's a reason that people mag dump with small calibres it doesn't seem like its doing shit until the shock hits and they fall over then die. Higher calibre is more humane
Is it a living art or a larp reival?
Yeah tends to be the bloke disabled by 3 litres of fruity lexia and a point of meth these days. Rather takes the sportsmanship out of it
yeah, in a scenario where you're sort of far and it's hard to aim.
But you can be at 2m of distance, still out of range for a person to hit you, and shoot them in the head if we're talking about a gun VS martial artist scenario.
Even a bb would knock you out if it went through your brain, Im sure a 9mm is more than enough.
It's only insufficient if we're talking about killing through damaging organs, but I'd say that it's still more lethal than a well placed punch, on average.
Kek, the other day I walked past a guy at a bus stop with two goon boxes next to his bag. He was in a battle with his shadow and gravity.
>progress
Kind of. The west values “the infinite,” if that makes sense; the limitless metaphysic of a culture characterized by its restless thrust toward the unattainable and the unknowable.
