Is he right about comic sales?

Is he right about comic sales?

Well, yes, but of course from an industry standpoint, as long as the producer sells the comic, it is a sale.

But even so, we really have no actual real data on even floppy sales to retailers, just really shaky estimates by third parties.

Yea since Diamond died they have really fudged the numbers.

He is here. We already know that companies have padded out numbers for titles by including them with the shipping of others

Sales estimates shipped to stores still give us an idea on what titles are sold enough to maintain consistent orders alongside issues selling out warranting reprints

Diamond didn't die

He's technically correct. The best kind of correct.

Isn't this just how every industry collects sales though

He's right, they are actually distributing comics. Something Eric can't claim

Well is this Eric guy a comic creator? Seems unfair to judge him by the same standards you hold marvel and dc if he’s never even made a comic before

He claims to be, yes

Technically correct, but by that same logic we could go in the other direction and assume that they're actually selling MORE than the numbers let on (probably not, but y'know). Quick aside, but a lot of these discussion omit the fact that all the big companies also sell comics on release day to countries like Australia and England. Less stores sure, but from someone who has lived in all three countries, the quantities of comics sold are no different.

Yes. Manufacturers and publishers don't give a shit how many of something a store sold, they care how many stores bought from them. In most cases it roughly approximates eventual total sales because stores won't buy more of something they can't move.

your mad b cuz he smerter then you

No.
For example, even for comics in the book channel in NPD Bookscan, sales are based on point-of-sale data, ie. when someone comes in and buys a comic from a store, which is why NPD Bookscan's top sellers are like 90%+ manga every month.

Where is the comic, Eric?

The video game industry does the same thing. They report units shipped most of the time, not units sold

It could be completely different with comics, but I can tell you that it’s definitely not the same with movies. Unpurchased DVDs are backcharged to the distribution company.

This retard knows that how music was certified by the RIAA prior to streaming too, right?
