honestly, it would've been cooler if Zuko's were the blue ones, but they unlocked when he and Aang began training with the dragons. it would've helped to make it seem like Azula was the one who was uniform with the rest of the fire nation and Zuko unlocked a better version that evened the playing field between the two of them

You do realize that if Azula was sane, Zuko and Katara would been captured by the imperial firebenders and/or the Dai Li right? Or if Zuko and Katara managed to interrupt Azula's coronation, she would have never challenged Zuko to an Agni Kai and would have stomped them in a 2v1 right?

With the power of the comet and while sane she'd beat Zuko but it wouldn't be a stomp since he grew to be patient and measured. Though she definitely wouldn't have challenged an agni kai, she would've just laughed at him then had all the guards/dai li take them down.
