With Wonderwall, it’s probably Oasis

It seems like only Oasis and Blur are household names, while Suede/Pulp are more obscure.

Probably Blur, but mainly because of S/T which was just aping american indie and Song 2 was a piss take of grunge. Bigger sales than Oasis because of this for sure, don't remember actual figures.
Oasis did decently well, but Blur outsold them, like i mentioned before.
Suede was killed by some psychotic boomer faghag, which as Wh*te boomer woman do, literally trademarked name. She was mad people preferred some bongs than her boring longue music so she had to shut them down. The Cranberries as opening act cucked them too, but not as that fucking boomer bitch.
Pulp was only a thing in some anglophile circles and guess they were too commie for burgers.

Pulp was commie?

FUN FACT:
Outside of the UK, all of those bands are literal one-hit wonders.

Oasis w/out a doubt. Americans only know "Woo hoo" and not the band who did it, let alone the fact that that song is unindicative of their output as a band. Everyone in America, on the other hand, is at least vaguely aware of Wonderwall and maybe a bunch of other Oasis songs which all sound the same anyway so they might as well have listened to their whole discography.

Those other two aren't even remotely in the picture.

american here

oasis have 2 songs that still get airplay (wonderwall and champagne supernova) while the rest got play in the 90s but are out of the rotation. they are semi popular but not nearly as big as they are in the uk or other places, but had a period of big fame in the mid 90s

blur didnt sell as much at the time but song 2 still gets played regularly and their albums are more critically acclaimed today. gorillaz are huge and a lot of people got more into blur/damon albarn after that. theyre probably more relevant than oasis today

suede and pulp are college hipster bands only music geeks know

>and maybe a bunch of other Oasis songs
nope. only Wonderwall, if that.

damn, not even live forever or don't look back in anger?

>gorillaz are huge
translation:
>I like gorillaz!

Common People as a song should answer your question the best. Pulp also comes from 80s indie scene which was incredibly commie/socialist leaning and supporting, despite being art school kids.
Some members, I think for sure Russel Senior was actively supporting miners' strikes back in the 80s if I recall correctly.
I respect Jarv for getting away with his coomer lyrics, but he's a hypocrite. I don't think actual working class person could spend so much time on music and art (he fucking went to Cenral Saint Martins) back then. All of Britpop was just lazy fucks on dole or middle class kids.

They're definitely bigger than any of these bands mentioned. They have like 5 big radio hits

watch a film about life, death & supermarkets

pro tip
Pulp formed in 1978
but didn't chart any music until 1992 and didnt really acheive fame until the late 90s
Just to let you dumb cunts know being famous doesn't happen overnight
and that instant fame are industry plants and should be ignored
if zoomies don't do this music will continue to decline

no. those were college -adio songs in the 90's but not more.
doesn't mean they're not good tho
honestly, Oasis got a lot of their attention in England for the brothers behaviour.
That stuff is of zero interest in the USA, so there's no mystique to the band, and the songs are not really original and Beatles/Bowie/whatever-tier, and there are plenty of American bands who fill that niche.

those were hits back in the 90s but dont get played often

>They have like 5 big radio hits
ask 100 people on any street in any non-college town in the US to name even one and you'll get 10 answers, if that

Pulp is really good. one of the few bands from that era that have aged well

Pulp used to have this sound which fitted the zeitgeist and they went with the flow, but in fact I feel they didn't really wanted to make it big, just make their wierdo music and make some art (Jarvis was around early Warp Records, directed some videos for them from what I heard). It just happened they fitted in and got lumped by Select with Auteurs/Suede/Felt and also Saint Etienne (which was just Indie Dance with cloying aesthetic)

We Love Life way better than their Britpop output for me. Still good band, but Different Class/His n Hers are vastly overrated and Jarv was a pussy by making Cocaine Socialism buried as B-Side in This is Hardcore era.
