there are only, like, 13 people that own one
It's hard to find good sounding ones. I pretty much only like Rickenbackers and Electric XIIs.
because few people can into 12 string electrics and not make it sound like ass.
Explain yourselves, zoomers. Why aren't you topping the charts with this fine young instrument?
six strings are enough
What's the point of a 12 string? Does it make a richer sound or something?
Built in chorus pedal, also different feel
Yes. But I'd probably take 12 over the 7 and 8 string nu-metal or djent silliness.
If i had tons of money I'd buy a couple 12 strings and keep them in weird tunings. imagine the harmonic richness of like dadgad or even like e1e1e2e2e3e3 and droning and sliding all over the place
this
they are much harder to play without fret buzzing the fuckbout which is then accentuated with an amp
most of early-mid King Gizz albums were done with a 12 stringer

case in point
I was in a noise rock/ noise improv/ gaze band and played acoustic 12 string with a Seymore Duncan acoustic pickup through a big pedal board. I gigged like that for a while and planned to get an electric but the price difference between chinese novelty shit and a decent gigging 12 string electric, combined with the nonexistent re-sell market, kept me from buying one before our band dissolved to reform and play tight hardcore punk where I'm just singing. So there's one anecdotal answer to op's question except I guess I didn't really talk about albums.
criminal that there isn't more jangle pop with electric 12-strings tbdesu
the doubled strings are an octave up so it sounds jangly af
